What to wear on the red carpet

From London Film Premieres, Oscars to the Golden Globes, Cannes to the British Fashion Awards the invited guests from celebrities, Media, Cast, Crew and Organisers are dress up on the red carpet.

Whilst if you are out you may have a personal style as “laid-back, for red carpet events, you must get glammed up.

Some celebs have sevearal people getting them ready from make-up, stylists, dresser etc whilst others in the morning may put moisturizer on, eyebrow gel, always lip balm, but that’s really it,” and just keep it natural with a pretty dress.

Working in the media like we do interviewing celebrities, we consider part of her job to be getting glammed up for work in some capacity, as there are always people and cameras around.

Hollywood celebrity stylist bestows upon their A-list clients on the red carpet who opt for vertiginous heels on the red carpet. Just be comfortable. Men wear suits and ladies, a dress and go glam!

Pop star Dua Lipa isn’t afraid to push fashion boundaries, slaying Us every chance she gets. When it comes to her wardrobe, the London native loves drama. She favors sheer catsuits, sparking gowns, daring minidresses and glorious vintage pieces. For her first-ever Met Gala in 2019, Lipa looked like a work of art in Versace, which was made custom for her. She graced that year’s pink carpet in the vibrant number that featured a plunging bodysuit covered in an illusion-like pattern.

The onesie was paired with coordinating leggings, a ballon overskirt. She finalized the piece with platform heels and had her hair styled in a voluminous fashion for a red carpet do. Flash forward to the 2022 Grammys, the “One Kiss” artist turned heads in another Versace masterpiece. For the musical soiree, Lipa donned the fashion house’s iconic bondage dress that was originally modeled by Christy Turlington in the 1992 “Miss S&M” show. Cindy Crawford then wore the piece to the VMAs that year. The sultry dress featured belted straps across a sheer bodice and is finished with a figure-hugging skirt. During the awards show, Lipa served up an additional fashion moment alongside Megan Thee Stallion.

While presenting Best New Artist, the “Sweetest Pie” collaborators donned matching outfits — sexy black gathered frocks. “You stole my look,” Megan said to Lipa, who replied: “I was told I had the exclusive.” That’s when designer Donatella Versace stepped on stage and ripped off fabric from Lipa and Megan’s ensembles to create two new outfits on the red carpet. The sweet skit was an homage to Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston who shared a similar exchange at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards.

A post shared by DUA LIPA (@dualipa) Another standout style sighting from Lipa came in November 2022 when she attended the Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium concert in Los Angeles. For the show, she looked as regal as ever in a one-shoulder gown by Balenciaga. The floor-length design was equipped with ruched material and a figure-flattering silhouette for a red carpet event. The piece was finalized with a cascading train. The “New Rules” songstress opened up about her bold style on the red carpet “Everyone is allowed to wear whatever the f–k they want, and it’s so important that they do.” She continued: “This is the way we move forward in the world. We have to break the norms. If women wearing womenswear is deemed normal, women wearing menswear should be normal, too. But normality is a tricky one. It’s putting things in a box, and it shouldn’t be like that. Because what is normal, anyway?”

Red carpet rules

1. Mix it up on the red carpet

2. Shelve sheer gowns

3. Seeing is believing

4. Do subtle (rather than show-stopping) jewelry

5. Stay true to your daylight self

6. Befriend a tailor

7. If in doubt, there’s (still) a fail-safe dress silhouette

8. Keep it real

Once upon a time it was a red carpet faux-pas to bare piercings or tattoos, let alone a shaven head. But a lot has changed since Angelina Jolie attended the Original Sin film premiere in 2001, revealing her ‘Billy Bob’ tattoo as part of a look considered risqué at the time. Today’s starlets, just like Jolie, aren’t about conforming. Which means that the red carpet buzz cuts proudly sported by Kate Hudson, Cara Delevingne and Charlize Theron, or nipple piercings (Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid) are setting the new norm.
