Here is a foodie’s guide to the best days out this summer
The end of UK lockdown rules on August 19 was a dream come true for foodies up and down the country who are now free to roam summer festivals.
This year will see the welome return of a number of fantastic food and drink festivals that were put on ice last year due of the pandemic.
Whist the Taste of London festival has already taken place you stil have time so don’t you worry as we’re whetting your appetite with this line-up of the top ten food and drinks festivals taking place over the next few months:
1. London Craft Beer Festival, East London, August 13-15
Wash down some brilliant street food with the country’s finest craft ales at this wonderful weekend event at Tobacco Dock.
2. Meatopia, East London, September 3-5
Meat lovers can fill up to their heart’s content at Tobacco Dock with responsibly sourced dishes, fresh off the grill.
3. Blenheim Palace Food Festival, Blenheim Palace, August 20-22
This gastronomic weekend in Woodstock, Oxfordshire will showcase some of the best local and national produce alongside demonstrations, Q&As and book signing from industry experts and your favourite celebrity chefs.
4. Abergavenny Food Festival, September 18-19
Fancy a Welsh weekender? Well then head to Abergavenny for two days of mingling with Wales’ finest chefs, food businesses and farmers.
5. The Big Festival, Oxfordshire, August 27-29
Have a nosy around Blur Bassist Alex James’ Cotswolds farm while enjoying performances from the likes of Zara Larsson and Nile Rogers & Chic and tasting everything from street food to a decadent sit-down menu.
6. The Great British Food Festival, various dates
From the rest of July to the end of September, The Great British food festival is travelling around the country with chef demos, food challenges, foraging walks and more across 10 UK locations.
7. Plant Based World Conference and Expo, North London
If you’re interested in the future of meat-free diets then this one at the Business Design Centre is not to be missed.
8. Paul Ainsworth’s Travelling Feast, Cornwall, August 6-20
TV chef Paul Ainsworth is taking his food festival around the Cornish coastline and there’s a stellar line-up of musicians, like Kasier Chiefs and Sister Sledge, going along with him.
9. Pub in the Park, various locations and dates
If drinks and nature are amongst your favourite things then you’re in luck because there’re still a couple dates left for Pub in the Park this year including Chiswick from September 3-5 and St Albans the following weekend.
10. Scottish Wild Food Festival, September 18-19
Escape for a weekend of foraging and fresh food on the fringe of the Scottish highlands. It all takes place on the Cardross Estate, Cardross, Port of Menteith.
