6 healthy drinks to have with breakfast

How many of you sleep thinking about breakfast? Most of you? Right? It’s good, but only if you think about making a healthy & balanced breakfast. If you start your morning with a donut or a drink laced with sugar, you are doing it wrong. Most people end up eating a healthy & balanced breakfast. However, the beverage or drinks they accompany with their breakfast is a source of worry as people usually drink juices, coffee, or tea. The last two are healthy if you don’t add sugar or dairy to them. But fruit juices are not beneficial, no matter how healthy they are.

Do you pair your breakfast with a tall glass of orange juice bought from the grocery? If yes, stop doing this now. Packed juices are full of sugar and preservatives, making breakfast unhealthy. Instead, since the morning meal is the most important one, you should eat and drink things that sustain you till lunch while keeping you energized.

What can you have with your breakfast which is healthy and flavorful? Then you are at the right place. The below article discusses a few healthy drinks that pair well with most breakfast meals.

Lotus tea

What Exactly Is blue lotus tea? This particular tea is made from the blue lily flower, botanically known as Nelumbo nucifera.

The blue water lily has a beautiful flower with an intoxicating fragrance that has been used in herbal remedies since the ancient Egyptians, Thais, and Syrians.

Herbal drink

You can enjoy any herbal drink with your breakfast. Make one on your own or buy it from a store. Lemongrass tea is one herbal drink you can make at home with a few simple ingredients.

All you need is a glass of water, lemongrass, lemon, and cardamom for flavor. Add all to a pan and let it boil. Drink it hot or over ice.

Lemon is full of vitamin C, and lemongrass is full of antioxidants. Together combined, they make an ideal addition to your breakfast.

Lemon, lime, and ginger drink

One of the healthy drinks you can have at breakfast is this versatile connotation. It is a mix of lemon, ginger, and lime, which you can drink straight with ice. Or mix with sparkling water to make a mocktail or add to warm water to enjoy in cold weather. It is full of vitamin C and antioxidants, soothing sore throat. Take it with a plate of scrambled eggs or vegetable pancakes, and you will have a great start to the day.

Coffee

Don’t let people shame you into giving up coffee. If you love drinking coffee, go for it, as it’s healthy. However, there are a few things to ensure it provides only health benefits and doesn’t disrupt your body. These are:

  • You are not drinking coffee on an empty stomach. Stop if you have been doing this for a long time. It disrupts your digestive and hormonal systems. Take it with breakfast, or have a 10-minute break.
  • Only add a little milk to the coffee. If you love making latte or cappuccino, only add a bit of milk.
  • Adding sugar to coffee is a big no, especially if trying to lose weight.

Caffeine can benefit you if you follow these tips and limit your coffee consumption to two cups a day. So enjoy it in moderation for the best results.

Peppermint tea

Peppermint tea is one of the best ways to enjoy a beverage in the morning. Mint can help relieve migraine while enhancing your memory. If you suffer from headaches occasionally or frequently, try drinking peppermint tea in the morning. It can relax muscle spasms & nerves in the gut to ensure the headache doesn’t start.

You can buy peppermint tea online, either caffeine free or with caffeine. Or you can buy mint leaves and boil them with water to enjoy this great drink. However, limit its consumption to two cups (especially with caffeine).

Kombucha tea

Everyone knows how important it is to include probiotics in your diet. They help keep the gut microbiome happy and multiply their diversity. Prebiotics & probiotics both are essential for our body. One way to include them in your breakfast is to sip on Kombucha tea.

It’s a fermented tea that you can find in tons of flavors. You can enjoy cranberry or mango Kombucha tea at home. Or buy an unflavored one. The icy cold drink is perfect for summer when you want to add something hard to your hot beverage and enjoy it.

Matcha tea

Yes, matcha tea without sugar or lots of whipped cream is a perfect start for your day. You can enjoy a hot cup of matcha tea or make iced matcha with your breakfast. Don’t buy matcha from a café that loads it with sugar or cream. Matcha releases energy slowly into your bloodstream in its pure form (with water). Therefore, it helps you stay energized longer and has antioxidants too.

You don’t have to eat breakfast without a beverage. But, if that’s your jam, switch to better versions and enjoy healthy drinks to have a super-filling breakfast. Other healthy beverages to pair with breakfast include unsweetened low-fat milk, English breakfast tea, and buttermilk.
