An estimated 20% of adults in the United States live with chronic pain. Unfortunately, the mainstream answer to these chronic pain conditions has been opiates; this is evident from the state of America’s opioid epidemic. Surely, though, there has to be a better alternative than deadly opiates to ease America’s pain? Enter: kratom. Kratom for pain is effective, natural, and about a thousand times safer than addictive, lethal prescription (or other) opiates.
What Is Kratom?
Kratom, or mitragyna speciosa, is an evergreen tree related to coffee that is native to Southeast Asia. Kratom has been in use for centuries in the traditional medicine practices of these countries. Traditionally, laborers also used kratom to ward off pain and fatigue throughout their day.
While workers of Southeast Asian countries traditionally chewed on raw “OPMS Black Kratom” leaves right off the tree, today’s kratom is processed to meet quality standards, and be packaged and shipped worldwide. Kratom leaves are harvested, dried, ground to a fine powder, and weighed into bags for packaging, or into individual gelatin capsules.
How Does Kratom Work for Pain?
Millions of people around the world use kratom for pain effectively. Kratom works to treat pain by interacting with the same receptors in the brain as an opiate. However, let’s be clear: kratom is not an opiate. It is a partial mu-opioid receptor agonist. The mu-opioid receptor is part of your brain that is partially responsible for managing your perception of pain.
Is Kratom Safe?
To talk about how kratom is a safer alternative to opiates, we need to discuss what makes opiates so dangerous. When you take an opiate, it binds to the mu-opiate receptor, relieving pain and often causing euphoria.
However, it does other things: it also activates the production of the protein beta-arrestin. The protein beta-arrestin, operating at high levels, interferes with the brain’s signals to the diaphragm. This diaphragm signaling interruption is the cause of respiratory distress, and often death associated with opiates. This means that when you take kratom, it interacts with your mu-opioid receptor, and it actually works by blocking your perception of the pain you experience.
So, is kratom safe? Well, kratom does not activate the production of beta-arrestin. This means that kratom does not cause the respiratory distress that is the cause of tens of thousands of American opioid deaths yearly. Kratom is undoubtedly a safer alternative to deadly opiates.
Can You Overdose on Kratom?
While an opiate overdose might land you in the morgue, taking too much kratom can cause a different type of upset: trips to the bathroom. Kratom’s adverse side effects associated with consuming high quantities generally include abdominal discomfort, severe constipation, and sleepiness; side effects that are starkly lesser than the consequences of taking too much of an opiate.
Kratom for Pain: A Clear Choice
If you are one of the millions of Americans living with daily chronic pain, considering opiate therapy, or yearning to get off of prescription opiates, consider kratom for pain as a natural alternative. Kratom is the safe choice for relieving your daily pain symptoms without worrying about addiction to opiates or the chance of overdose. Kratom is a natural, effective option for those wishing to live a healthy, cleaner life. Simply: kratom works for pain, worry-free.
