Benedict Cumberbatch has refused to deny rumours he will make an appearance in ‘Star Wars Episode VII’.
There has been widespread speculation Cumberbatch, 38, will star in the much-anticipated movie alongside the likes of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill.
Speaking on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, Cumberbatch was asked whether he is to appear in the film, to which he replied: ”No comment.”
The Hollywood star, who has previously worked with ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ director JJ Abrams on ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’, revealed he’s visited the set of the new film but was reluctant to disclose any further details.
Cumberbatch said: ”I went to the set. It was incredible. I probably shouldn’t be saying these things.”
Speaking about his next film, Cumberbatch recently said he would happily dress in drag to play Queen Elizabeth II.
Cumberbatch played the part of gay mathematician Alan Turing in the WW2 thriller ‘The Imitation Game’ and joked he would be up for playing the British monarch, even though he’s a man.
When asked why it took so long for authorities to pardon his character – who was prosecuted for his sexuality in 1952 – he said: ”Why couldn’t it have been earlier? I don’t know. I’m not the Queen or David Cameron.
”Maybe those will be my next roles. I’d like to see me in that frock.”
