Beyoncé is reportedly planning on writing her own movie based on the life of Saartjie Baartman, a woman who was exhibited in freak shows in the 1800s for her large bottom.
The ‘Listen’ hitmaker is reportedly keen to tell the story of Saartjie Baartman, a woman who was exhibited in freak shows in the 1800s for her large bottom, in a bid to bag an Academy Award and has hired a whole host of acting coaches and writers to make the movie happen.
”Beyoncé is desperate to be taken seriously as an actress. Even though she’s had a string of well-received movies, she still feels her breakthrough role is yet to come, reports The Sun.
”She now wants to write a screenplay that gains her respect – and hopefully awards – from the media industry, and thinks Saartjie’s story could be her ticket. Winning an Academy Award would mean everything to her, and she’s a woman who is used to getting exactly what she wants.”
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old star is also working on her 6th studio album and wants it to be ”heavily urban”.
A source said: ”Studio bosses were keen for Beyonce to have another big pop record. They wanted more hits like ‘Drunk In Love’ and ‘Pretty Hurts’. But Beyonce is fully in control of this release and decided she wanted a heavily urban record.”
Beyoncé’s debut solo album “Dangerously In Love” has now sold more than 5 million copies in the U.S
