Bradley Cooper says ‘Casting directors said I wasn’t sexy

Hollywood heartthrob Bradley Cooper doesn’t think he’d have enjoyed Hollywood success if he’d carried on drinking.

Bradley Cooper was told pointblank that he was lacking sex appeal during an early audition.

Since the stars breakout role in 2009’s The Hangover, Bradley has quickly risen to the top of the movie industry’s ranks. As well as becoming one of the world’s most in demand actors, he has four Oscar nominations under his belt and regularly tops lists of the world’s sexiest men. This has all come as a bit of a surprise for the 40-year-old though, as he was once told he was “unf**kable”.

“Their feedback was, you’re not really f**kable,” he laughed to TV host Barbara Walters about a failed audition.

“So, how do you go from being ‘unf**kable’ to being the (2011 People’s) Sexiest Man Alive?” Barbara asked.

“You tell me,” he smiled “I have no idea. Obviously there’s something afoot.”

HIs latest accolade is making Barbara’s 10 Most Fascinating People list. Every year the TV veteran compiles a list of the most interesting personalities, with the likes of Amy Schumer, Caitlyn Jenner and Tracy Morgan also making this year’s (15) cut.

Despite his breakout role as party loving Phil in The Hangover, in reality Bradley quit drinking in his late 20s.

“I would never be sitting here with you, no way, no chance, (if I hadn’t quit),” he admitted. “I wouldn’t have been able to have access to myself or other people, or even been able to take in other people, if I hadn’t changed my life.

“I never would have been able to have the relationships that I do. I never would have been able to take care of my father the way I did when he was sick. So many things.”

Bradley’s father sadly passed away in 2011, but the actor is glad his dad got to see his Hollywood success.
