‘Jump Street’ Actor Channing Tatum is said to be eyeing a seat in the director’s chair for the forthcoming feature The Son.
The 33-year-old actor and his producing partner Reid Carolin are in talks to co-direct the crime thriller based on the eponymous forthcoming book by best-selling author Jo Nesbo, according to Deadline. Warner Bros and Kevin McCormick’s Langley Park acquired rights to the novel in 2012.
The Son tells the story of a model prisoner who escapes jail to discover the truth about his father’s death.
MarkMeets believes there is hope Channing will also star in the project, although it’s too early to tell, with a writer yet to jump on board.
Channing already has several projects in the works for later this year.
The actor’s voice can currently be heard in theatres, breathing life into the Superman character in The LEGO Movie. He also recently completed work on Foxcatcher, the Bennett Miller drama about the story of Olympic Wrestling Champion Mark Schultz, co-starring Mark Ruffalo, Steve Carell, Sienna Miller and Vanessa Redgrave.
This summer he will also return to cinemas in 22 Jump Street, alongside Jonah Hill, Dave Franco and Ice Cube, as well as in the Wachowski brothers’ action adventure Jupiter Ascending, co-starring Mila Kunis and Douglas Booth.
Channing is currently working on animated drama The Book of Life, according to IMDb, and recently expanded his resume with the newly-announced stripper sequel Magic Mike 2.
The dancer-turned-Hollywood heartthrob is writing, producing and starring in the story, which focuses on his character’s life as an exotic dancer. Matthew McConaughey is also rumoured to be reprising his role.
