Guardians Of The Galaxy Review

Watch out Avengers there’s a new breed of superheroes in the Universe

Guardians of the Galaxy london film premiere
Ever since 2012, where the silver screen was blessed with Avengers Assemble, Marvel announced phase two to the Avengers with Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. We’ve still been waiting for a film to top one of the biggest blockbusters in history. Well I can tell you know, Guardians of the Galaxy is that film which will give Avengers a run for its money.

The basic plot of the film is completely set away within a distant Galaxy, (the film has no connections with any of the other Marvel Cinematic Universe films),where a foolhardy human adventurer, Peter Quill, finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb desired by many within the Galaxy, including Ronan, a powerful Kree radical with ambitions to use the orb in eradicating this mortal enemies, the Xanderians.

To evade Ronan and his Sakaaran Army, Quill is forced into an alliance with group of outlaws, Rocket, a genetically engineered bounty hunter raccoon with a serious attitude problem but brilliant with weapons; Groot, Rocket’s accomplice tree-like humanoid whose caught up in Rocket’s life; a deadly assassin Gamora, who is the adopted daughter of Thanos; and the complete maniac Drax, who is hell bent on seeking revenge for the murder of his wife and children but also his home planet. But when the group discovers the power of what the orb can do and the menace it poses to the whole galaxy, they must partner up together for a last, desperate stand off before evil wipes out the galaxy.

For James Gunn, this is going to be one of his biggest successes in directing a film, and from the looks of it, will be giving Joss Whedon a run for his money in the Marvel Universe Special Team in the future. Maybe both of them will work together with a Guardians/Avengers crossover? Fingers crossed for this. Gunn, has brought everything into this film in a well-balanced form, with emotions, humour, heart and tons and tons of action running wild for the whole 122 minutes. The flow of the film was perfect, it felt like you weren’t waiting for the film to finish, but left you wanting more at the end.

The choice of Actors was superb with Chris Pratt (Peter Quill) having a fantastic year with Lego Movie and now GOTG under his belt making the film hilarious in scenes throughout, Zoe Saldana (Gamora), donning a new skin colour and playing a badass assassin character, Dave Bautista (Drax), now to become a new face on the acting market after his brutal yet humorous performance, Bradley Cooper (Rocket), giving the voice of one of the best characters Marvel has ever created and Vin Diesel (Groot), even though having three words to say throughout the entire film, brought so much humour to the film you were in stitches in parts.

Put all these characters together, and they make one hell of a film! And making the film stand out from all other films, the music soundtrack is a timeless classic, bringing back some amazing tunes to the silver screen, Spirit in the Sky, Cherry Bomb, Hooked on a Feeling, Ain’t no Mountain Higher. The list just goes on and on with this Awesome Mix Tape Volume 1. Gunn has utilized these track choices into the film perfectly.and they go by the name…The Guardians of the Galaxy!

In conclusion, if anyone is expecting the same type of Marvel film, think again. Guardians of the Galaxy are the new breed of Superheroes and are here to stay bringing a new concept to the Marvel Universe. This film has the potential to be the biggest summer box office hit of 2014. So people pre book your tickets now for the 31stand afterwards you’ll be saying about The Avengers, ‘What a bunch of A-holes’.
