New trailer and images for upcoming movie: Nightmare Alley

MOVIE NEWS

Bradley Cooper and Cate Blanchett star together in Guillermo del Toro’s mysterious movie!

Here is the first teaser trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming film, Nightmare Alley.

Nightmare Alley is based on a 1946 novel by William Lindsay Gresham, made previously into a gritty 1947 film starring Tyrone Power.

The plot of the movie is short and sweet, leaving a lot of room for the imagination of audiences to conjure up a vast array of plots, twists and turns for Nightmare Alley.

The movie, produced by Searchlight Pictures, boasts a stunning yet eerie adventure and, not only that, but also a star-studded cast.

Bradley Cooper (The Hangover Series, Silver Linings Playbook) and Cate Blanchett (The Lord of the Rings franchise, Thor: Ragnarok) join forces to make the exemplary duo of a carny (Cooper) and a psychiatrist (Blanchett), who wish to pick the pockets of the rich.

It appears as though the pair are dangerous, driven, and keen to get what they want. However, the movie has a slight sinister and eerie undertone, suggesting that there is much more at play within Nightmare Alley than just smooth talking and stealing.

Along with Cooper and Blanchett, the cast also includes Toni Collette (Hereditary, Knives Out), Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man, Aquaman), Richard Jenkins (Step Brothers), with Mary Steenburgen (Back to the Future III, Step Brothers), and Ron Perlman (Pacific Rim).

While the plot details are virtually non-existent, save for the short trailer and brief synopsis, audiences can begin to get excited as the 1940s theme and murder mystery-type atmosphere looks absolutely incredible.

There may also be some horror elements hiding in Nightmare Alley, as there appear to be oddities floating around a carnival, with a man asking the question, “Is he man, or beast?”

“The carnival is almost like a microcosm of the world,” del Toro says. “Everybody’s there to swindle everybody. But at the same time in the carnival, the [workers] know they need each other. In the city, much less so.”

Images of the film showcase the beautiful-looking film, as well as the silently angry, shocked and smug faces of the characters; all these exciting elements combine together to create a very interesting and inviting feature, which we cannot wait to see.

Nightmare Alley is released December 2021.
