Stephen Belber’s 2014 film adaptation of his original 2004 Broadway play MATCH, sees veteran actor Sir Patrick Stewart gain critical-acclaim for his powerful flamboyant performance reminiscent of his famous first gay character “Jeffrey”, as he takes the lead as fast-talking and witty Juilliard dance teacher, Tobi.
First played onstage by Tony-Award nominee Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon, Robot & Frank) opposite Ray Liotta (Goodfellas, Hannibal) and Jane Adams (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), MATCH centres around, Tobi, a Juilliard professor who is interviewed by a woman and her husband for her dissertation on the history of dance in 1960’s New York, but it becomes increasingly clear that there are ulterior motives to the couple’s visit!
MATCH (cert.15) is out on DVD & Digital on Monday 12th October 2015, courtesy of Praslin Pictures.
