Star Wars: new trailer celebrates The Force Awakens' British heritage

With Star Wars: The Force Awakens just around the corner many people are remembering where they were when George Lucas set about making one of the most epic of sagas.

Disney and Lucasfilm have joined this trend to create a series of videos about the British side of the force.

Jamie Oliver, Sir Richard Branson and Jessica Ennis-Hill have joined together to talk about how England has helped to influence the Star Wars franchise (more than just making the cups of tea).

A long time ago, nearly 40 years to be precise, the production Star Wars: A New Hope started at Elstree Studios with some of the most recognisable items being created by humble Britons. Items such as the original lightsaber by Roger Christian which was built from junk and spare camera parts, and John Mollo who brought Darth Vader’s sinister look to life.

Not forgetting the involvement of the London Symphony Orchestra who has continued to perform John William’s breath taking scores.

Britain has continued to give a large amount of input into the latest release Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Not only are several of the main cast British, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Gwendoline Christe but also the inclusion of the loyal R2-D2 was built but Oliver Steeples and Lee Towersey!

Star Wars: the Force Awakens is out December 17th 2015. This is a film not to be missed.
