Tales of the Jedi Season 2 Announced at Star Wars Celebration + Daisy Ridley to return as Rey

Tales of the Jedi Season 2 is on the way as Star Wars director and producer Dave Filoni announced the news at Star Wars Celebration.

Details are currently sparse as it is unknown how many episodes the second season will run. All that is know is that it will once again air on Disney+. The news came during a Star Wars: The Clone Wars panel that Filoni took part in. “Tales of the Jedi was so fun the first time, I decided to do some more,” Filoni announced.

The first installment of Tales of the Jedi was released last year on October 26, 2022. The Disney+ series was six episodes, with three episodes focusing on Sith Lord Count Dooku, while the other three were all about Ahsoka’s journey.

Animated in a Clone Wars style, Tales of the Jedi featured the return of Qui-Gon Jinn, who was voiced by Liam Neeson. Other actors included Ashley Eckstein, Corey Burton, Janina Gavankar, T.C. Carson, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ian McDiarmid, Matt Lanter, Phil LaMarr, Clancy Brown, and more. Kevin Kiner, who composed the music for the Clone Wars series, Rebels, and The Bad Batch, composed the series’ score.

The series is created by executive producer Dave Filoni, with Carrie Beck and Athena Portillo serving as executive producers.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2: Kathleen Kennedy Offers Update

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy shared some disappointing news regarding the future of Obi-Wan Kenobi at Saturday’s Star Wars Celebration in London.

Season 2 of the Disney+ series starring Ewan McGregor “is not an active development,” Kennedy told our sister site CultCrunch, before adding, “But I never say never, because there’s always the possibility. That show was so well-received and [director] Deborah Chow did such a spectacular job. Ewan McGregor really wants to do another.

“Everybody’s all hands on deck with what we’re doing right now, as you can see by what we showed everybody [at the Celebration],” Kennedy continued. “We’ll turn our attention to that again maybe down the road.”

Set 10 years after the events of 2005’s Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Season 1  of Obi-Wan — which rolled out last summer — reunited McGregor with Hayden Christensen, who reprised his role as Vader.

Star Wars announces three new films on the way, with Daisy Ridley to return as Rey

Ridley will play her character, Rey, in a story set 15 years after the events of the 2019 film “The Rise of Skywalker.” The upcoming movie will focus on rebuilding the New Jedi Order as powers rise to tear it down, Disney said.

Disney purchased Star Wars producer Lucasfilm in 2012 for $4 billion and released three hit films from 2015 to 2019 plus several TV series on the Disney+ streaming service.

Fans had been waiting to hear where Star Wars would head on the big screen.

The company had put a pause on new “Star Wars” movies after “Rise of Skywalker.” A film that was set to be released this year, “Rogue Squadron,” was scrapped, as were some others that had been in early development.

The second of the three coming films will delve into the past to tell the story of the first Jedi to wield the Force, Kennedy said.

The third will be set in the present and chronicle an escalating war between the Imperial Remnant and the fledgling New Republic. It will be led by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, the team behind the popular Star Wars TV series “The Mandalorian.”

No release dates for the movies were announced.
