Bon Jovi have rocked their way to become the top tour of 2013 and a career high.
The New Jersey-based act’s worldwide tour grossed 259.5 million dollars (£158m) this year, topping the annual top 20 list and setting a record for the band.
Beyonce, second with 188.6 million dollars (£115m), ended her tour last week in Brooklyn, New York. Pink, Justin Bieber, and Bruce Springsteen round out the top five.
The global concert business scored a record year with the top 20 tours, earning 2.43 billion dollars (£1.48bn) in primary ticket sales. It generated 1.96 billion dollars (£1.1bn) last year.
The top 20 list also included Taylor Swift, Elton John, Rihanna, Depeche Mode and One Direction. The Rolling Stones’ comeback tour ranked 12th, a notch under Paul McCartney.
MarkMeets editor Mark Boardman said “2014 should see One Direction top the poll as the lads are performing their biggest tour to date in-front of huge crowds around the world”.
