Ed Sheeran and Elton John’s ‘Merry Christmas’ enters at Number

Music pals Ed Sheeran and Elton John’s Merry Christmas have become the UK’s Number 1 Trending Song online.

The festive duet – and the duo’s first collaboration together – is this week’s highest new entry on the Chart ahead of its debut on the Official Singles Chart this Friday, where it is currently challenging Adele’s Easy On Me for Number 1.

If the song can hold on, it will mark Ed Sheeran’s 12th total Number 1 single, and third this year, and Elton John’s 9th and second this year.

All proceeds made from the song will go to charity, with funds being donated equally between the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation and The Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Meanwhile Ed Sheeran doesn’t believe ‘Love Yourself’ would have been “as big” if he hadn’t given it to Justin Bieber to record in 2015.
