Katy Perry talks ahead of her new tour

Katy Perry’s tour for Teenage Dream was an epic escapist odyssey that turned stadiums and arenas around the globe into her own personal Candyland. When she hits the road in 2014 in support of her chart-topping latest, Roar, what will she do to keep her game elevated?

Pop songstress Katy Perry has given a few teasing details about her forthcoming new tour, which will be in support of her new studio album ‘Prism’, and confessed that it will be a visual spectacular.

Speaking on the’ red carpet, the ‘Roar’ beauty explained that while it won’t be as candy-coloured as her previous venture, it will still be very engaging from an aesthetic perspective:

“[It will be] less cartoony but just as dynamic as always. And it will be a feast for your eyes and for your Instagram.”

Perry also gave a performance of ‘Unconditionally’ at the ceremony and said that she wanted her appearance to be memorable: “It’s a challenging performance; it’s unlike any of the performances I’ve done before. It looks like I’m being abducted, basically … and also there’s a bit of a magic trick in it — I’m not getting sawed in half, I’ll do that later — I’ll be floating in space.”

“The tour is going to be fantastic,” Perry said while Tim Stack followed her halfway across the Earth for the cover story in the current issue. “I always try to take it to the next level. I think people will realize what the tour is going to be like when they listen to the music.”

Perry promises that the new show will definitely incorporate material from Roar, but she’ll always make room for her catalog of older hits. “There’s nothing worse than going to a concert of an artist and not hearing your favorite songs,” she said.

As for the concept and the stage design, Perry is tight-lipped, but she does offer one intimate tease. “Let’s just say I’m going to be very close to people,” she said.

Katy Perry bucked the fashion trend at the 2013 MTV EMAs on Sunday night when she arrived in a pretty and modest dress.
