Katy Perry has hinted that she might be heading out on a world tour again. The ‘I Kissed A Girl’ hitmaker hasn’t embarked on a global jaunt since her 2017 and 2018 ‘Witness: The Tour’ run, however, she has been working on her ‘Katy Perry:PLAY’ residency at the Resorts World Theatre in Sin City last month (8 dates in total this year), and admits it’s about time she hits the road.
Katy Perry has extended her Las Vegas Play residency into 2023, with dates confirmed in February, March and April but can we expect a global tour? Perry has enough new songs to be able to put on a big show that people from ages eight to 80 can enjoy.
“Those songs have taken me everywhere around the world, and I’ve toured the world three times over.
“So I know I need to go back because the world constantly changes, and there are new fans every day.”
The 37-year-old pop megastar did a residency because it enabled her to perform and be “artistic”, while also being around for her 23-month-old daughter Daisy Dove – whom she has with fiance Orlando Bloom.
She said previously: “I really wanted to be able to strike more of a balance – to have a child and take her to preschool – but also be artistic and play with that energy.”
Perry shared how having sweet “moments” as a family are “so important” to her. Perry said: “Orlando and I just did a hike with our daughter. We went to look at some ducks and turtles because it’s so important for me to have those moments every single day, especially when I’m working from 2pm to 9pm.”
The singer-songwriter’s last studio album was 2020’s ‘Smile’.
A world tour would have been impossible to plan with the COVID-19 travel restrictions of the past two years, but normal service has resumed.
Perry is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold over 143 million records worldwide. All of her studio albums released under Capitol have individually surpassed one billion streams on Spotify. She has nine U.S. number one singles, three U.S. number one albums and has received various accolades, including four Guinness World Records, five Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards, a Brit Award, and a Juno Award.
Since the premiere of “Katy Perry: PLAY” at Resorts World Las Vegas on December 29, 2021, the larger-than-life residency has been embraced by fans and media alike. Rolling Stone declared, “’PLAY’ time has begun in Las Vegas.” The show was hailed as a “success” by MarkMeets Music, “… the complete confection” and “… quintessential Perry” by Mark Boardman. CultCrunch noted, “Katy Perry is still the queen of camp.”
The newly opened 5,000-capacity theatre at Resorts World Las Vegas, exclusively programmed and operated by Concerts West / AEG Presents, is a state-of-the-art, multi-level venue designed by the award-winning international design firm, Scéno Plus. The intimate venue, with the furthest seat only 150 feet from the stage, features unparalleled comfort, unobstructed sightlines and an unmatched spatial audio experience through more than 200 L-Acoustics speakers powered by L-ISA Immersive Hyperreal Sound technology.
