Max George discusses The Wanted break

Max George has revealed the reasons behind The Wanted’s decision to split.

The boyband has decided to take a break after their upcoming Word of Mouth tour.

Max explained that changes in their personal lives have seen them drift apart in recent months.

He said that tensions between the band members had been increasing.

Speaking to The Sun, George apparently said: “Over the past year there has been a lot of tension.

“Our personal lives drove us apart.”

He added: “Things started to happen and we were drifting.

“We used to be such a brotherly pact, but it started to feel like it wasn’t The Wanted any more.”

Max revealed that he and Nathan Sykes were the first to express a desire to pursue other projects.

He said: “We had a very difficult conversation.

“Our manager Scooter Braun asked us who would want to take a step out after the tour and try to do their own thing. Me and Nathan both said we have other ambitions.

“We were more prepared than the others because we’d looked at how things had been going with the band over the past few months.”

George admitted that being dropped by Universal at the end of last year had played a part in the group’s decision to split.

He said: “Our record sales weren’t what they were. We had to have an open and honest discussion about that because continuing, and without a label, is difficult.”

George has already made a move towards a solo career, having recording with Flo Rida last year.

He also wants to break into acting, saying: “I’ve already been signed with CAA, a big agency in Hollywood.

“After the tour I’m going to move to LA, get a house and settle there. I’m going to do auditions and learn the business. There’s talk of a couple of roles already.”
