Silencing their critics the floopy-haired fivesome sang Story Of My Life – it all got emotional

Last week we had seven whole hours of One Direction online during 1D Day and not only did they get the world’s teenagers watching it, we sat in awe at their pre-recorded peformance on the UK X Factor (which they had to film twice as the audience weren’t loud enough) .

Our favourite boyband weren’t having a day off, instead, the boys were back on stage at the American Music Awards in LA – looking fresh as ever.

Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles took to the stage on Sunday night and sang their little hearts out LIVE.

1D made sang the emotional Story Of My Life with a full orchestra and moody lighting.

Introduced by Emma Roberts, who said 1D were her favourite band, the boys spent about four minutes making millions feel all warm and fuzzy inside, which is more than we can for Miley Cyrus (who sang with a crying digital pussy cat) .

It didn’t end there as the former X Factor contenders picked up an award for Favorite Pop Album which Hary’s ex Taylor was nominated for too.

Although Taylor did pick up four other gongs so she probably wasn’t too annoyed – and she definitely won in the style stakes – knocking us all out with her tiny Julien Macdonald dress.
