The beloved Georgia band has a run of U.S. dates between August and November
If you figured The B-52s had just one big rocket in their cannon, then take a good hard look at yourself.
True, the fun-loving alternative rock band landed a hit with 1978’s riff-heavy “Rock Lobster,” the type that just doesn’t go away. In the same year, we also visited “Private Idaho”.
The party will end soon for the self-proclaimed “world’s greatest party band.”
Then, more than decade later, an improbable slew of hits. In 1989, when Trent Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails announced its arrival, house music was sweeping the U.K. and Europe, and grunge was on the way, the B-52s delivered more goods with “Roam” and “Love Shack”.
The band’s three surviving members will hit the road for at least 15 shows across 11 venues in the United States, with more dates expected to be added in the next few weeks.
The band has had many hits, including “Rock Lobster”, “Planet Claire”, “Party Out of Bounds”, “Private Idaho”, “Whammy Kiss”, “Summer of Love”, “Wig”, “Love Shack”, “Roam” and “(Meet) The Flintstones”.
