Monopoly might be known as a business term, but it is perhaps better known as the name of the iconic board game franchise.

The game is recognized globally. People from all corners of the world have enjoyed it in some form as a board game, with it often regionalized for the market in which it is being sold. However, it has become more than a property-based board game, as Hasbro’s popular product continues to expand and enjoy an incredible place within popular culture and society.

Monopoly’s Game Variants

First and foremost, it’s possible to see many different variants of the board game available today. You can find one that is designed based on almost any theme possible, given the versatility of the game. While there are many that can be about becoming a property tycoon in the enjoyable classic trading game, there are other versions of the game that allow players to try and enjoy other aspects of life that have since become a business, such as building an empire or based on their favorite sport.

With so many different versions of the board game available, it’s also been transformed into various digital versions. Players who use their smartphones for their gaming needs can play Monopoly Go! while on the move. They can play the traditional game just as if they were playing physically, but on their chosen gadget. Even the casino industry has gotten involved and made it possible to play Monopoly slots with a portable device or even those that are played live as a game show. It’s possible to find these games at a bet casino, where you can enjoy what they have to offer in an entirely different way from the traditional game creation.

Monopoly Is So Much More Than Just A Game

However, one way the iconic Hasbro franchise has become so much bigger and synonymous is because it has become more than just a game played physically or online.

It has become a popular theme and business venture for many different enterprises and industries that have looked to use the brand to create new experiences for people.

McDonald’s is perhaps one of the best-known users of the Monopoly game brand, as they collaborate with the company to use it with their products on at least one occasion each year. The fast food chain has used the board game concept to give customers a chance to win prizes when purchasing meals from the chain. This added element to their product can often see a customer increase, thus highlighting the impact of the game franchise on the world.

Another collaboration recently announced is one between Nike and LeBron James. It has been confirmed that trainers featuring the Monopoly brand will be released in two colorways in November 2024. One of those expected to be released features the iconic bills used to pay for items in the game.

In London, there is a visitor attraction based on the game. Monopoly Lifesized London is a physical space on Tottenham Court Road that people can visit and play as if they are a part of the game. They will need to try and conquer the escape room challenges that have been designed and then dominate the playing board in the allotted time they have.

Hasbro Cashing In

While Monopoly might be a game about economics and being able to sustain oneself by being savvy with the money the player has, it does appear Hasbro has been able to cash in significantly.

With the brand being so iconic and renowned globally, it’s no surprise that many are looking for a slice of the pie. Hasbro seems willing to part with a slice, too.
