A new concert-style Korean K-pop musical that features original songs is heading into a series of workshops, with eyes on a West End run.
ICON is a new musical by K-pop writing team The Hub, led by Brian You and platinum-selling songwriter Charlotte Wilson, and featuring an English-language book by Kyo Choi based on an original concept by Jamie Chapman Dixon. The producers of the show were behind Wonderville in the West End, and current drag hit Death Drop at the Criterion Theatre.
The show mixes English song lyrics with Korean elements, including the choruses of several songs, and centres on a fictional five-piece boy band. It is currently in development in South Korea and the UK, with workshops planned for March and June ahead of a UK tour and West End run.
