Chronological Content Returns for European Users on Instagram and Facebook

Thanks to the European Union’s Digital Services Act (DSA), users of Instagram and Facebook in Europe are once again able to view content in chronological order. Meta, the parent company of these platforms, has introduced a new feature in line with the DSA to provide users with more control over their app experiences. This feature is set to roll out later this month, allowing European users to view Stories and Reels from accounts they follow in the order they were posted.

Enhanced Control and Transparency

Meta’s response to the DSA also includes changes to how search results are generated on Instagram and Facebook. Instead of algorithm-driven, targeted results and recommendations, search results will now be based solely on the words users enter. This shift aims to enhance transparency and empower users to have a clearer understanding of how search results are determined.
