How to fix Windows error 0x0?

Windows error 0x0 points towards the faulty Windows files present in your system causing the Windows to behave inappropriately and thus go into a shutdown.

If you are an avid Windows user then you are aware of the different error messages it can throw your way when dealing with something serious or of importance to your system. Most of these error messages are temporary and would just leave you in peace once you have restarted your system or updated the Windows to its latest version. These errors are consistently bumming out users from the early days of Windows and even with the new installations, these can come just out of nowhere.

What is Windows error 0x0?

This error occurs when Windows crashes while it is running, often turning the screen blue and presenting the user with a dialogue window explaining what has happened. The basic reason behind the Windows error 0x0 can be anything, a recent software that you installed or uninstalled and it failed to comply properly with the Windows registry files.

OR it could be something to do with the improper installation of the Windows and it failing to verify the authenticity of the install online and thus running into the error.

Reasons behind the error code

Any error that occurs within Windows presents users with a log file that is developed containing the whereabouts of the error, why it happened, what caused it and what users can do about it. Often it is not possible for simple Windows users to access the log file on account of not knowing where it is in the first place. But there are usually the following reasons behind error;

  • Tampering with the Windows registry files corrupted the Windows and presented the user with the errors
  • User failed to either properly install or uninstall software or program thus leaving behind metadata and files that might have interfered with the Windows components causing it to crash
  • If there is possibly a virus or malware present on board then it could become the reason for corrupting the essential files that Windows requires at a moment’s notice for the sake of running properly and not registering any issues
  • If the computer was shut down improperly such as direct pulling of the cord or an electrical malfunction then it can interfere with the Windows performance causing it to crash and thus running into the error 0x0
  • Deletion of the important Windows files even accidentally can lead to users having to deal with the error0x0

These are some of the most prompt reasons why Windows might run into problems and there are plenty of ways this situation can be dealt with. Not every single one might work for you or you might have to try a few of these but at the end of the day, there are only the compatible fixes that you are going to find for the problem.

How to fix the issue

At the end of the day, it is just an error with a possible fix but just how elongated it is going to depend on what caused it in the first place. Following are some of the tested fixes for this specific error you can try and hopefully it will be out of your hair;

Running Disk cleanup

This is a powerful utility that can help you to free up some space on your system especially if it is running out of it but it can do something else and that is scanning the broken Windows registries and directories and then cleaning them. This will also remove any registry causing dilema and you will not have to worry about the error coming back in the future. Before you can run the disk cleanup be sure to backup all your data and important files and then run the disk cleanup utility on the drive where Windows is installed.

Reinstalling the Graphics driver

Sometimes it could be just your graphics adapter being the nuisance and causing the runtime error because of the driver going bad or unresponsive. What you can do here is to completely reinstall the graphics driver. To do that go into the device manager, select the graphics driver and right-click on it and then click uninstall. It will then uninstall all the components of the graphics driver. Now restart it and it will automatically install the missing drivers.

Reinstalling the runtime libraries

There is also a possibility that your system doesn’t have the latest Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable package installed and that is why you are running into this error. What you can do is to open the control panel, go into the program’s features, select the Microsoft Visual C++, and completely uninstall it. Then download it fresh from the internet and perform a clean install, after that restart your Windows and hopefully you won’t run into the error 0x0.

Removing the conflicting programs

It is entirely possible that everything was working smoothly and then you chose to install a program and after that, you are constantly running into the problem again. It is also possible that it might be an older program already installed on your system causing the error. It is going to be a challenge determining which specific program is the culprit but there is an easy way to do so.

Open task manager and wait for the error to show up, when it appears notice which program is not responding to the task manager. When you narrow it down to that specific program, uninstall and then reinstall it and hopefully the issue would have been resolved.

These are some of the things that you can try for the sake of resolving the objection and if nothing works then you might have to perform a clean install. That means you would have to install Windows from scratch. That is why it is always a great idea to have all your important files and settings backed up for such an event.
