Amy Childs and Harry Derbidge wanted for The Only Way Is Essex return

The former cast members could make a comeback on the reality show The Only Way Is Essex AKA TOWIE to boost the ITV2 show ratings.

Ex-cast members Amy Childs and her cousin, Harry Derbidge, are being tapped up to return to the programme after Joey Essex hinted that he would quit after this series report the Mirror.

It follows the pair leaving in a bid to find superstardom outside of the scripted reality series… and failing.

We’re told: “A lot of the cast thought they might go on to bigger and better things by ditching the show, especially after Mark did so well in I’m A Celebrity… But a lot of the other careers haven’t really taken off.

“Now there has been some coming and going, producers are thinking of having a reunion with some of the old characters coming back.

“Amy and Harry have been approached, and producers want to talk to Lauren Goodger too, writes Ashleigh Rainbird.

“Lydia Bright has already made a cameo appearance since leaving, but they want some of the higher profile cast members to stay longer.”

Vajazzle queen Amy was the first high profile name to leave the show, leaving after the second series in 2011.

Mark Wright and Harry followed suit after the third series, but while Mark landed a presenting role on dating show Take Me Out… The Gossip, things did not really take off for Harry.

Amy had her own spin-off series on Channel 5 for a whopping one series, and appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, coming fourth.

She has also launched a clothing line and her own salon.

Harry has thus far managed an appearance on Celebrity Wedding Planner – with Amy, so it is safe to say he is “available” for discussions.

Last series, the show’s viewing figures got a real boost from a Las Vegas double bill – an all-expenses paid trip to Sin City, which might have attracted the attention of the past cast members.

But ratings slipped again towards the end, and now with Joey’s departure, it could benefit from the return of old faces.

“Amy could bring a certain spark back,” continued the source. “And it helps that she’s single again.”
