BAFTA TRIBUTE AND SPECIAL AWARD FOR ITV’S DOWNTON ABBEY

Later this evening the cast and crew of ITV and Carnival Films’ phenomenally successful drama series Downton Abbey will receive a Special Award during a unique BAFTA tribute.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts will honour Downton Abbey, Carnival Films’award winning drama for ITV for its outstanding success in the UK and Worldwide.

The period drama kicked off during an unseasonably warm September with 8.43M viewers

The event is being hosted by Jonathan Ross and filmed for a special tribute programme called ‘BAFTA Celebrates Downton Abbey’ which will be broadcast on ITV later this year.

All the current cast will be in attendance including, Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter and Penelope Wilton, along with a host of previous cast members including Dan Stevens, Nigel Harmon and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. Julie Walters CBE will present the BAFTA to the cast on stage.

BAFTA Celebrate Downton Abbey is a BAFTA-ITV Studios coproduction for ITV. It has been commissioned for ITV by Elaine Bedell, ITV’s Director of Comedy & Entertainment and Peter Davey, ITV’s Entertainment Commissioner.
