Britain’s Got Talent stars Collabro have revealed that they got together in a pub.
Having met the group, made up of Matthew (20) kitchen salesman, Jamie (23) works for the NHS, Tom (24) waiter, Michael (23) sales assistant and Richard (20) labourer, in Saturday night’s opening show.
Despite having the looks of One Direction it was a classic Les Mis track they performed – Stars – surprising the judges and leaving the audience on their feet to win their way through to the next round.
Speaking about how they formed the group this month, the boys explained how an ad on Facebook led to a drinking session and ultimately the band being born.
“We met up in London in a pub and sung through a couple of songs,” they said. “We knew we wanted to go for Britain’s Got Talent but we just wanted meet up and see what we could do.”
The group reckon they have the edge to go all the now, adding: “We’re unique in the fact that in that we do five part harmony and that’s not really been done before in a male group on BGT.”
But even if they don’t make the live shows it seems that the exposure on the auditions show alone has left the five piece with an army of fans.
They said: “We’ve had a fantastic following, our Collaborators as we call them have been absolutely great.”
Britain’s Got Talent continues this Saturday night on ITV.
