Singer and talent judge Cheryl Cole is the early favourite to be this year’s winning mentor.
With the first round of auditions now complete, bookies reckon Cheryl’s on course to triumph in her comeback year.
She’s back on the show alongside Simon Cowell, Mel B has joined and Louis Walsh is still around.
Both Cheryl and Simon are given odds of 9/4 to mentor this year’s winning act.
As it stands, Cheryl is the most successful of the show’s judges, having won two out of the three series’ she appeared on.
Louis by contrast has won just once despite having appeared in each of the ten series.
Newcomer, Mel B, has had some experience on the X Factor panel having been a guest judge in the past and is 5/2 to have the winner in her first stint as an official judge.
Louis hasn’t had a winner on his team since 2005 with Shayne Ward and at 7/2, it looks like he may struggle again to make 2014 his year.
Maybe next year, Lou.
As for which category is looking on the strongest it seems that the smart money is on the boys.
The Boys group has been the most successful tallying up a total of six wins throughout the ten years and Boylesports are 2/1 that the winner will be from the Boys once again.
Despite Sam Bailey championing last year, it’s 5/1 that the winner will come from the Overs category again.
Aoife Heffron from Boylesports said: “Cheryl and Simon have both had two winners during their time on the X Factor and with both of them back this year, Boylesports cannot separate the two and have installed them as joint 9/4 favourites to have the winning act”
She added: “The new line up of judges are playing happy families for the moment but we all know that it doesn’t take long for fireworks to spark between the judges.
“However, this year we may not see any walk outs and no judge to permanently leave the panel is priced at 1/3.”
The X Factor will air on ITV in the autumn.
