Demi Lovato has praised Sam Bailey’s X Factor winner’s song version of Skyscraper.

Given that Sam’s cover has boosted Demi’s original back up the charts too, it’s no surprise that she’s happy.

“Congratulations @SamBaileyREAL on winning X Factor UK!! Love your version of Skyscraper!” the US singer and American X Factor judge tweeted yesterday.

Sam replied: “thankyou so much xx”

Demi’s track had originally only reached the Top 30 of the UK charts when it had originally been released here back in 2012, but made the Top 10 earlier this year thanks to the X Factor again, after it was performed by Hannah Sheares at bootcamp.

Meanwhile, X Factor boss Simon Cowell also tweeted his support, writing online: “Congratulations Sam. We’ll deserved. And I love your version of skyscraper. Happy Xmas. Simon.”

However, Sam revealed this week that she’s yet to actually meet Simon in person.

“I’ve not spoken to him directly but he’s sent a congratulations tweet and he is tapping in and ringing up people and just asking how I’m doing and has said he’s really happy with things,” she explained. “I’ve not spoken to him directly but he’s very busy as I am but we’ll meet each other soon”.

In other good news for the former prison officer, Sam’s cover of Skyscraper is already on course to score this year’s Christmas No 1.

Bookies have now made Sam the 1/8 favourite to take the festive Number One spot.

“Sam’s single must be selling like hot cakes, this is a huge price change, which suggests that the Christmas number one is in the bag,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
