On your marks, get set, Drive!
ITV’s brand new Entertainment series, Drive, starts tonight.
In the first show of the series the celebrities will be competing in Banger Racing. Other driving challengers throughout the series will be buggies, 4x4s and rally cross cars.
Drive is hosted by Vernon Kay with UK racing legend and double British Touring Car Champion, Jason Plato, is on hand with his expert advice.
Celebrities taking part: rapper Professor Green; singer Ella Eyre; TV personality Louis Walsh; actor and comedian Johnny Vegas; Olympic athlete Colin Jackson; TV presenter Mariella Frostrup; weather expert Laura Tobin and broadcaster Angus Deayton.
The celebrities with the slowest time in each challenge will battle it out in a Night Race to see who will remain in the competition. And those that remain by the Final will burn up the tracks in a F4 car in a bid to be crowned the Drive Champion.
Quotes from some of the celebs about this weeks driving challenge:
Louis Walsh: “Everybody I told I was doing this show fell around laughing… what you are doing a motorcar show but you know nothing about motor racing, you can’t even drive good.”
Louis talking about the Banger Race training: “You know where I would love to be now, at home in my bed, but I’m not, I’m in Coventry and it’s cold.”
Louis talking to Mariella Frostrup about the Banger Racing: “Mariella I hate it, I really do I want to get out.”
Louis talking about being in the Banger car: “It’s the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever done, I just feel helpless.”
Actor and comedian Jonny Vegas is making everybody laugh: Am I sporty? Take a look at me… no. I love driving because it’s my own little cocoon, it’s my little escape from having people shout Monkey at me.”
Singer Ella Eyre talking about how see feels: “I feel like Lewis Hamilton. Just not as rich”
Pro Green having great banter with Johnny Vegas: “Who do I think is the biggest liability? I can tell you who is the biggest liability – Johnny Vegas”.
