Rylan admits he ‘wasn’t’ good, but now looking for BBC return

Rylan has addressed recent speculation online amid his marriage split following the revelation that he was offered an extended period off air from his salaried BBC job.

The 32 year-old star, who recently split with his husband Dan, has alreadu returned to his Radio presenting slot – however it was reported he worried colleagues after crying off air, with the team ‘stepping in to cue music to give him a moment to compose himself’. Oh Rylan, we wish you well.

Singer turned presener Rylan returned to the mic last month having taken time out to focus on his wellbeing in June after it was revealed that he and Dan after six years of marriage had separated.

Rest assured the beloved presenter is doing better now, as he took to social media to address the earlier claims.

He wrote of the news stories: ‘Be assured I’m good. ‘I wasn’t. But I am now x.’
The presenter’s fans chimed in with their support, with one replying: ‘We’ve all been there. You can feel totally ok and then out of nowhere come all the feelings that floor you again just when you least expect it. Take time when you need to.’

Another had some words of encouragement, writing: ‘Stay well man. Tomorrow is a new day! Go chill with that lovely Mumma of yours, she’ll sort you right out.’

On his life, plans and his love of music he said “It’s hard picking my favourite Spice Girls song… it’s like choosing a favourite child!” but he said Spice Up Your Life is a tune.

His drink of choice is a merlot which he will be drinking in the run up to christmas.

‘Rylan’s one of the BBC’s favourite stars,’ an insider said. ‘When he returned to work everyone supported him but when he broke down people were concerned he’d come back too fast.

‘One of the BBC’s top brass was at the meeting. They even suggested he take a year’s break to focus on himself. Ultimately, they want Rylan to feel supported and happy.’

The source added ‘Following some time away from his show, we’re delighted Rylan is back on air.’

The famous face has hosted his BBC Radio 2 show since 2019, taking over from Zoe Ball.

He’s also guest-hosted The One Show a number of times and shares presenting duties of Strictly Come Dancing sister show It Takes Two with Janette Manrara, which airs Monday to Fridays.

Rylan announced in a statement posted in July that he and his husband Dan Neal were splitting after six years of marriage.

‘I just wanted to write a message to thank you all for the love and kindness you have shown us,’ he said
