The Voice Australia coaches ‘demand more than $1M each in a bid for equal salaries’… after Guy Sebastian found the pay disparity ‘unfair’
The Voice Australia coaches have reportedly banded together to seek equal remuneration from Channel Seven of ‘in excess of $1 million each.’
For season 2023 Guy Sebastian founded the coach’s union after determining that the present wage discrepancy is ‘unfair.’
Sebastian, 40, Keith Urban, 54, and Rita Ora, 31, whose salaries are reported to make up the majority of the talent budget, are pushing on behalf of Jessica Mauboy, 32, who is claimed to be paid the ‘least.’

‘All four coaches are currently on very different pay terms and all of them, particularly Guy, think it’s unfair and unsustainable’.

‘After being on the series for some time, he knows it survives on the dynamic and chemistry of the coaches. He’s quietly confident their demands will be met.’
According to the publication, the coaches might ‘walk away from their red chairs’ next season should their demands be rejected.

The group is said to be demanding $1million each after being inspired by the cast of Friends, who in 2002 rallied together to ensure they were paid equally for the last two seasons of the show.

As Mauboy is rumoured to be receiving the lowest salary, her fellow coaches are said to believe she ‘deserves more’.
‘They all love Jess. They think she’s the heart and soul of the show. In fact, they all love working together and are happy to keep going for as long as there’s an audience; however, they believe it’s time to close that pay gap,’ the insider added.

The Voice has proved to be a hit for Seven, toppling Nine’s Lego Masters and 10’s MasterChef Australia in the ratings when it launched last month.
The premiere of the singing competition was the most-watched entertainment show of the night.
The reality series topped the demographics and pulled in 843,000 metro viewers.
The figure put it ahead of Lego Masters’ premiere, which had just 672,000 viewers.
Meanwhile, MasterChef Australia pulled in just 545,000 viewers for its first episode.
