Tumble launches to 3 million viewers

We were watching BBC’s new show Tumble and whilst the series isn’t going to be challenging Strictly, we liked what we saw.

The Splash style competition launched yesterday evening with its first live show as 10 celebs performed with their pro partners on either the acrobatic floor or aerial hoops.

Sarah Harding, Lucy Mecklenburgh, Amelle Berrabah, Ian H Watkins, Carl Froch, Bobby Lockwood, John Patridge, Emma Samms, Andrea McLean and Peter Duncan competed.

But viewers weren’t too taken by the format with an average audience of just 3.16 million viewers

Splash! had launched its second series with 5 million viewers earlier this year, while ITV’s similar summer time celebrity talent contests Stepping Out and Your Face Sounds Familiar also both launched to audiences of 4 million this time last year.

The slightly good news for show bosses is that the numbers did rise throughout, having started with just 2 million viewers.

Over on Channel 5 and following the most watched eviction on the Friday as Winston Showan was booted out, ratings were down again yesterday.

TV critic and journalist Mark Boardman said Peter Duncan surpised him the most, though Sarah Harding, Ian H Watkins and Amelle Berrabah were his favourites revealing that John, Carl and Bobby were probably the public favourites to win.

Just 900,000 viewers watched the latest highlights show, with a further 350,000 watching Bit On The Psych.

And on Sky One, Got To Dance’s return entertained just 430,000 viewers for its first audition episode, down on last year’s premier of more than 800,000.

Big Brother continues nightly on Channel 5, Tumble returns next Saturday night to BBC One and Got To Dance airs again tonight from 8PM on Sky One.
