Yellowjackets TV series
Yellowjackets was one of 2021’s most hyped and shocking shows. The Showtime drama had audiences hooked last summer and the wait for the sophomore season has been agonizing. The show gained popularity via word of mouth, by the time the show’s finale aired, it had become Showtime’s most-watched new series in over five years.
The show features two timelines. The first is set in 1996 when a team of New Jersey high school soccer players’ plane crashes into the wilderness on a way to a national tournament. The thriller chronicles their attempts to survive while also tracking their current lives in 2021.
“Yellowjackets has been an unadulterated sensation for Showtime,” the network’s entertainment president Gary Levine said when announcing the second season. . The first season of Yellowjackets is nominated for seven Emmy Awards including Outstanding Drama Series, Directing, and two nods for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series.
8 What Is The Plot Of Yellowjackets Season 2?
Showtime president Gary Levine has given us some clues on what to expect from the upcoming season. “I do know that there will be some surprises in terms of the characters,”. “There are still lots of questions about who survived, what happened out there. There will be some real surprises in terms of that and I think some characters you may not even have met yet.”
“We, as a show, won’t tease the audience with things,” Nickerson revealed. “I hate that as a viewer.”
The writing pair (who are married in real life), did reveal that we will learn what happened to Shauna’s baby, who exists in the show’s 1996 timeline but has yet to be seen in the present-day thread.
Also, they revealed that we will learn more about the man who lived in the cabin, and that “we have not met all the survivors” in the present-day timeline yet.
7 We Meet More Adult Versions In Yellowjackets Season 2
Judging by the casting we will find out which other characters survived the wilderness and made it to the modern day.
Servant actress Lauren Ambrose has been cast as adult Van and Obi-Wan Kenobi actress Simone Kessell will play adult Lottie. Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, Melanie Lynskey, and Christina Ricci will also play the adult versions of the plane crash survivors.
Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Nélisse, Sophie Thatcher, and Jasmin Savoy Brown will return as their younger counterparts. It is unclear if we will see Ella Purnell again after Jackie’s fate in the first season. Liv Hewson, who plays a young Van, has been upped to a series regular, which means we’re going to be seeing more of her.
6 Guest Actor Have Been Cast In Yellowjackets Season 2
Elijah Wood has been announced as a guest star on the Showtime series. The former Lord of the Rings star will play Walter, a nosy citizen detective in the present-day storyline. Walter will “challenge Misty in ways she won’t see coming.”
Nuha Jes Izman has also been added as a recurring guest star. The Malaysian actress will play Crystal, a theater lover who forms a friendship with Misty. Official sources promise she will be vital to the plot.
Jason Ritter, who is married to Yellowjackets actress Melanie Lynskey in real life, will make a guest appearance on the show. Details of his character have yet to be announced.
5 What Have Yellowjackets Actors Said About The Show?
While many of the actors have kept pretty quiet about upcoming plots, Steven Krueger, who plays Coach Ben in Yellowjackets did reveal that the sophomore season will be a “whole new ballgame.”
“We are going into the wintertime when the season ends with that first snowfall. This season will cover the winter months,” he revealed. “It’s going to get dire out there with little food and the challenge of staying warm and alive. A good general overall birdseye view of the second season is it feels like producers loved we were the crazy show on TV and want to take that and double down. If you thought Season One was crazy, just buckle your seatbelts for Season 2. It doesn’t let up.”
“I’m trying to give them enough space because I can’t imagine the pressure of your first season being received like that,” Melanie Lynskey told People in regards to the second season. “And then every actor wants to know, ‘What’s happening to me? What’s happening to me?’ So I’m just like, ‘When you’re ready, I’ll read everything.’“
4 Will We Get Answers In Yellowjackets Season 2?
Yellowjackets is so watchable because it has so many mysteries we are dying to know the answers to. One of the biggest questions lingering over Yellowjackets is whether there are supernatural happenings going on. While some seemingly spooky elements have been revealed to be the work of humans, there are still a lot of mysterious goings-on.
Other questions we want to know include the identity of the girl who falls in the pit in opening scenes of season 1, what happened to Shauna’s baby, who kidnaped Natalie, and who appeared alongside Jackie in her last moments? We don’t expect them all to be answered in this slow burning series but we hope to get some clues.
3 Will Jackie Come Back?
It’s unclear if Ella Purnell—whose character, Jackie, faced a cold death in the season one finale—will be returning for the second season. Showrunner Jonathan Lisco says audiences shouldn’t count anything out.
“Just because she’s dead…that doesn’t mean that she can’t appear, right?” he told Variety.
Fans noticed that Jackie’s journal included some post-1996 cultural references which couldn’t have seen had she not survived. Titanic (1997), 10 Things I Hate About You (1999), American Beauty (1999), and Bring It On (2000) are all mentioned, which were released after the crash.
“It’s not a mistake,” Lisco said of the journal detail. “We will find out.”
“[Shauna] seeking some kind of reconciliation with the past,” Lisco told The Hollywood Reporter. Ashley Lyle remarked that she was shocked at how many fans questioned Jackie’s death. She has revealed that Jackie’s journal will “tie together neatly” with Shauna’s survival guilt later in the series. The creators have explained that Jackie’s journal is an Easter egg but is not a plot device.
2 Will Yellowjackets Get A Season 3?
With so much anticipation for Season 2 from fans, Showtime delighted us by announcing season 3 of Yellowjackets before 2 had even aired!
Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime and Paramount Media Networks, confirmed the news to Variety on Dec. 15. “With Yellowjackets‘ runaway success in Season 1 and the pent-up anticipation for Season 2, we wanted to maximize the momentum by fast tracking Season 3 now.”
1 When Will Season 2 Of Yellowjackets Air?
Yellowjackets Season 2 will premiere on March 24, 2023, on Showtime.
Showtime subscribers will have the two-day exclusive window for streaming and on-demand, before it makes its way on-air on March 26, 2023.
Yellowstone Midseason Finale: Burning Questions Part 2 Should Answer
Fans were left with a few burning questions about what the second half of Season 5 could, and should, answer.
“Yellowstone” Season 5 has been slow, to say the least. So slow, in fact, that this season is actually being cut into two halves with the latter debuting this summer. The midseason finale tried to inject some necessary action into a rather lackluster season, mainly with Jamie (Wes Bentley) and Beth (Kelly Reilly) duking it out, but overall it was more a spinoff for the upcoming Taylor Sheridan spinoff “6666,” starring long-time cast member Jefferson White as cowboy Jimmy, than it was wrapping up any significant threads.
That being said, we were left with a few burning questions about what the second half of Season 5 could, and should, answer.
1. Beth’s killing Jamie, right?
Earlier in December I conjectured that Jamie was contemplating another murder—you know, to go with the previous two he already committed—but assumed he would attempt to take out his father, John (Kevin Costner). Instead, the finale ended with both Beth and Jamie individually contemplating the murder of the other after Jamie started impeachment proceedings against John. Wrong person, but still technically right: Jamie does have murder on his mind.
But, let’s be real, Jamie’s been a lapdog most of the series, and while he’s killed people it’s either by accident or at the behest of the Duttons. If anything, the odds of Beth offing her adopted elder brother seems like a more worthy possibility. Beth has always hated Jamie but this season she discovered Jamie’s secret son and, if anything, that has galvanized her to finally get rid of Jamie. Not to mention, Kelly Reilly is the show’s most popular character. So, if there’s a Dutton to be killed I don’t see it being Beth.
2. Is going back to the ranch a good move for Monica and Kayce?
The last four seasons have seen Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and Kayce (Luke Grimes) go back-and-forth on their relationship with the Dutton ranch. After the Duttons were attacked at the end of Season 3 into Season 4, Monica decided it was best for the family to move off the ranch and get their own home. Unfortunately, that did little to prevent Monica from suffering, as usual, and she ended up losing a child. So it was a tad shocking to hear how open Monica was to returning to the Dutton homestead once John needed Kayce to run it while the team traveled to Texas for a year.
The couple has had a rather muted story this go-round, outside of the season opener where Monica lost the baby. If anything, having them run the ranch will allow the back half of Season 5 to return to the eponymous Yellowstone while John is navigating government and Beth is breaking things. But will it end up doing Monica more harm than good? Monica’s always feel a bit frenetic in her thinking, though that could just be lazy writing, and after everything she endured (and blamed on her family’s closeness to John) it’ll be interesting to see if this time’s the charm.
3. Is John going to be removed from office?
I’d say yes if only because John seems so uninterested in the role. Honestly, this would give him a great out from having to do all the gladhanding and meetings he’s complained about since taking office this season. That being said, John’s removal from office would give the season a much-needed shot in the arm to tear the Duttons apart and craft a true war between Jamie and the rest of his family. It’d also just be interesting to see John Dutton fail at something. The man’s been successful at getting what he wants, how about knocking him down a peg?
4. Are any of Jamie’s skeletons going to come to light?
Jamie’s committing of multiple homicides aside, it was actually laughable hearing him tell Beth about leaving the ranch to his son because we haven’t seen Jamie’s baby since well back in Season 4. Has he been having visitation this entire time? Because all Jamie seems to be doing is scheming and getting naked with corporate Mata Hari, Sarah Atwood (Dawn Oliveri). It’d be nice to see one of the many things against Jamie finally come to light. Then again, with Beth trying to find something on Jamie to trump his knowledge of where the Duttons have buried their bodies, maybe it will all come out: his murders, his corruption, and his secret baby.
5. Will we ever be able to tell the difference between Laramie and Abby?
This was hard not to notice in the finale, especially during the sequence where Beth, Summer (Piper Perabo), Laramie (Hassie Harrison), and Abby (Lainey Wilson) were all sitting together. Actually, most of the Taylor Sheridan-crafted series have nearly all their main women characters rocking a similar look. But considering Laramie has been a side character since practically the show’s inception, it’s nice that she’s actually interacting with the other women of the Dutton universe, as oppose to just being the cowboy bunny bedhopping from character to character. As for Abby, we don’t know much about her outside of…she’s a singer. But, really, the scripts are gonna have to do more for these women, otherwise they’re just all going to meld into one big blonde ball.
6. When are the Broken Rock characters actually gonna see some action?
Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) has been sprinkled throughout this season, with the characters of the fictional reservation Broken Rock struggling to deal with a pipeline being built on their land. There’s been a lot of interesting story elements that have popped up, like the shout-outs of the President (whoever he may be in “Yellowstone”) visiting the reservation only to allow a pipeline. But their plot has always felt like a side element, even more so this season where there have been no new characters introduced and only a few tangential visits to them. It’d be nice to actually see them unite in some way with the Duttons plight like they did in Seasons 1 and 2.
7. Is Tate’s other arm ever going to see the light of day?
This is just a personal pet peeve: time goes so slowly in “Yellowstone.” Yes, Tate broke his arm in the car accident at the start of the season but it feels like he’s been hurt so long I can barely remember when he had two healed arms.
“Yellowstone” Season 5B will premiere on the Paramount Network this summer.
