When will Drag Race’s RuPaul new gameshow air on TV?

RuPaul has become a household name in the UK now, thanks to RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, and now he’s going to front a gameshow for ITV.

The 61-year-old rose to fame as the host of reality drag show RuPaul’s Drag Race, which began in the US in 2009 before spreading to the UK and Australia.

Mama Ru will be hosting Celebrity Lingo, a prime time spin-off of the popular quiz show Lingo, which airs in the afternoons on weekdays with Good Morning Britain host and Ackley Bridge actor Adil Ray as host.

The main show is still continuing with Adil, with 50 new episodes also just commissioned, while Ru’s celebrity version is going to air seven episodes in the Autumn. The celebs taking part having been confirmed yet, but we imagine that some former Drag Race UK contestants and/or Michelle Visage would be involved, right?

The contestants vie to reach the show’s end game, where the last pair standing have the opportunity to double their money, but risk leaving with nothing if the words escape them.

“Now, more than ever before, people want to have fun, and Celebrity Lingo is here to serve it up generously,” Ru said in a statement, while Adil added: “I’m so grateful to everyone watching at home, the entire crew and our fab contestants for giving me another chance to host one of the best shows on TV! Even to those who shout four letter Lingos at me in the street! Welcome to the team RuPaul!”

“Even to those who shout four-letter Lingos at me in the street! Welcome to the team, RuPaul.”

The show also has successful formats in the US, Italy and Spain – where the series is currently airing – as well as the Netherlands and France.

Ru was actually recently announced as the host of the standard version of Lingo in the US as well. Between both these versions and all the variations of Drag Race he judges on, we don’t know where he finds the time, but we’re not complaining.

Celebrity Lingo will launch on ITV and the ITV Hub in autumn 2022.

Meanwhile, RuPaul recently hit out at rumours that he was involved in a feud with drag icon Pabllo Vittar, after the latter became the first drag artist to perform at Coachella.
