BOYZONE and Coronation Street star Keith Duffy this week made his stage debut on London’s West End.
The housewives’ favourite stole critical acclaim in his role as Stapler in a revival of Bill Roche’s A Handful of Stars, which opened at the new Theatre503 venue in Battersea in May.
So good were the reviews that the team has secured a coveted West End transfer – which opens at the Trafalgar Studios this week, where it will run for a month.
Duffy, who also stars in the recently released Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie, takes on the role of Irish boxer Stapler in Paul Robinson’s revival of Roche’s popular 1988 piece.
Set in the pool halls of Co Wexford, the poignant play depicts the self-destructive lives of the town’s more troubled inhabitants.
Over the weekend an excited Duffy tweeted about the move, claiming ‘It doesn’t happen every day, it’s quite seldom but we did it, we transferred ‘A Handful of Stars’ to the West End. So now you just gotta Cum (sic)’.
A Handful of Stars runs at the Trafalgar Studios until July 25.
