The SpongeBob Musical to make London debut 2023

The SpongeBob Musical will make its London premiere next year.

The hit Broadway musical is getting a UK tour in 2023, starting at the Mayflower in Southampton on 5 April 2023.

The show will also come to London in Summer 2023, running for five weeks at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank from 26 July to 26 August 2023.

Other dates on the tour include Birmingham from 11 to 15 April, Bradford from 18 to 22 April, Oxford from 25 to 29 April, Dublin from 9 to 13 May, Manchester from 16 to 20 May, Belfast from 30 May to 3 June, Cardiff from 5 to 10 June, Blackpool from 13 to 17 June, Peterborough from 20 to 24 June, Wolverhampton from 27 June to 1 July, Norwich from 4 to 8 July, Leicester from 11 to 15 July, Aberdeen from 18 to 22 July, and Plymouth from 30 August to 2 September.

Based on the Nickelodeon series of the same name, the show features the much loved characters SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Eugene and Gary the Snail, with original music from stars including Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Sara Bareilles, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Plain White T’s and more.

A smash-hit on Broadway, the show was nominated for twelve Tony Awards, tying with Mean Girls for the most nominations at the 72nd Tony Awards. Based on SpongeBob Square Pants by Stephen Hillenburg, the musical is co-conceived by Tina Landau and features a book by Kyle Jarrow. Additional songs are by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley. Additional lyrics are by Jonathan Coulton, with additional music by Tom Kitt.
