It typically involves a variety of acts and performers, such as comedians, musicians, dancers, and magicians, who perform in front of an audience in a nightclub or theater setting. The term “cabaret” is derived from the French word for a small, informal restaurant or nightclub that serves drinks and often has live entertainment.

Cabaret performances often feature a variety of styles, including jazz, blues, and pop music, as well as dance styles such as tap, burlesque, and modern.
The cast recording will feature the original London cast of Rebecca Frecknall’s acclaimed production of Cabaret, including the Olivier-winning performances of Eddie Redmayne as The Emcee and Jessie Buckley as Sally Bowles.
The full cast album was released on 20 January 2023 and we’ll include a copy too.
Cabaret has a long and storied history, with roots in the cultural and artistic movements of the 19th and early 20th centuries. It was particularly popular in Germany, France, and the United States during the 1920s and 1930s, and has continued to be an influential and popular form of entertainment to this day.
Cabaret has music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, a book by Joe Masteroff, and is based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood. This production is directed by Rebecca Frecknall, with set and costume design is by Tom Scutt with choreography by Julia Cheng. Musical supervision by Jennifer Whyte and musical direction by Ben Ferguson with lighting design by Isabella Byrd and sound design by Nick Lidster. The casting director is Stuart Burt and the associate director is Jordan Fein.
The current cast of Cabaret performed on last years Royal Variety Performance 2022, which was screen by ITV1.
