Harpreet Kaur says ‘The Apprentice’ made her “more open-minded”.
The 32-year-old entrepreneur says her winning stint on the BBC One business competition – which sees constants vie for Lord Sugar’s investment in their ideas – expanded what she thought possible for her firm, Oh So Yum, after she was able to swap stories and ideas with her fellow hopefuls, who all came from a range of different backgrounds..
“I think going into ‘The Apprentice’, I already had a business and I had a couple of stores. And I think when you haven’t actually met with individuals from different industries, or networked as such, your thoughts on how much you can grow are quite limited. Harpreet told bangshowbiz, adding “But going through an experience like ‘The Apprentice’ which is essentially chucking loads of people together from lots of different backgrounds that all trying to progress you find the more open minded you are”.
“You can learn things of other people and actually your business can take maybe a different direction, or there’s so many ways in which you grow that you never need before. So for me as a business owner, it’s just opening up your mind to what is actually out there.”
The television personality also finds it helpful to use the increasing array of tools for “creative purposes” such as Adobe Express, which allow those who might struggle to design for their professional pursuits like social media campaigns or documents.
Harpreet said: “I remember I used to do like design things on like Microsoft Word or PowerPoint which are not created, which are not designed to for creative purposes.
“And it used to look horrific and I didn’t feel good about it. But I had to do is take the ages but I needed to save money.
“Whereas now, I actually feel pretty good about things that I’ve put together, like what I designed and it’s like okay, I can run these things in house and it can save a lot of money and a lot of time because they’ll have templates saved that you can just replicate, change the word and it all fits within your brand.”
She also gave insight how “being authentic” is way to capture Generation Z’s attention.
Harpreet said: “But I think what really grabs Gen Z’s attention now nowadays is being authentic. I feel like there was a stage where everything seemed to be perfect. And they’d go online and see entrepreneurs or role models, looking perfect, behaving perfect acting a certain way and telling them what they want to know.”
Adobe have partnered with entrepreneur Harpreet Kaur to share her secrets for business success, as someone who embarked on starting a business in her early 20s, to help motivate this generation to bring their creative visions to life with the help of tools like Adobe Express.
