Elle Fanning admits she was nervous about working with Angelina Jolie, but she insists Maleficent‘s leading lady couldn’t have been less like the wicked character she plays

Angelina Jolie is one of the most famous actresses in the world, so it’s not surprising her 16-year-old co-star Elle Fanning was intimidated at the prospect of a horned version of the star trying to kill her in the twisted fairytale Maleficent.

“I was so incredibly nervous because you hear that name, ‘Angelina Jolie’, and it’s huge. I wasn’t sure how we would get along,” says Fanning, looking as innocent in real life as her screen character Aurora, with her long blonde hair tucked behind her ears. “But during rehearsals, I heard whispers she’d finally arrived and I turned a corner and there she was for the first time and she immediately gave me a giant hug and said, ‘We’re going to have so much fun working together’. And that’s what it was, pure fun.”
