Luxury car manufacturer Maserati recently unveiled its flagship electric sports model, the GranTurismo Fulgore.

With a zero to sixty mph time of less than three seconds and a top speed of 200 mph, Maserati boasts that the GranTurismo Fulgore will be the fastest all-electric luxury car on the market once it debuts. With the unveiling of the GranTurismo Fulgore, the all-electric sports car market has a new competitor from an established luxury brand.

However, while it may be the fastest option once it hits the market, the GranTurismo Fulgore will have stiff competition in the driving range category, where several popular models rank ahead of its range of 280 miles.

10 Mini Cooper SE Hardtop 2 Door – 114 miles

The Mini Cooper SE Hardtop 2 Door is best suited for buyers with short commutes and little road-tripping to be done with its EPA-Estimated range of 114 miles. However, while the range is quite short, the Cooper SE saves drivers over $7000 over five years in fuel costs compared to the average new vehicle.

The Cooper SE Hardtop 2 Door makes up for its short range in its size and its affordability. It has a starting price of $34,225, easily the cheapest of comparable sports EVs such as the Kia EV6. It is also a compact vehicle, allowing city goers and others to easily maneuver into tight spaces that the average sports car could not.

9 Porsche Taycan GTS – 215 miles

With an EPA-estimated range of 215 miles, the Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo is on the lower side of its competitors such as Tesla Model S and the new Maserati GranTurismo Fulgore. While this may be below the average for EV sports models, the Taycan still saves buyers an average of $6000 on fuel costs over five years compared to the average new vehicle.

Outside its range, the Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo performs strongly when it comes to cost and speed performance. The zero to sixty mph speed of the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo is less than five seconds, and its starting price of a little over $97,000 is below that of its competitors, who price at over $100,000.

8 Audi e-Tron GT – 236 miles

Audi’s challenger in the sports EV market, the e-Tron GT comes in with an EPA-estimated range of 236 miles. Comparable with competitors such as the Porsche Taycan, the Audi e-Tron GT doesn’t wow with its range but is able to go long enough to be competitive with its fellow luxury EVs.

To help make up for its lower range, the Audi e-Tron GT has an incredibly fast charging time, utilizing a maximum charging rate of 270 kW. This allows the vehicle to charge from 5% battery capacity to 80% capacity in under 25 minutes using a public DC fast charger, helping to ease the hit of the lower range for drivers.

7 Polestar 2 – 270 miles

Dependent on which motor set-up buyers choose, the Polestar 2 can have an EPA-estimated range of up to 270 miles. The dual-motor set-up comes in with a slightly lower range of 249 miles, while the single-motor model will allow buyers to get the maximum range out of their Polestar 2.
