The 2022 Oscars ceremony takes place tonight over in the US and with a raft of excellent films in the running in every category, the competition couldn’t be tougher.

Fronting the ceremony this year is the star-studded trio of Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes, who’ll be the first hosts since 2018 – and judging by the promotional clip below, it’s going to be a fun night.
As for the nominees for the 94th annual Academy Awards, The Power of the Dog and Dune lead the pack with 12 and 10 nominations respectively, while West Side Story and Belfast both have seven nods each.
Those four films will compete against Don’t Look Up, Licorice Pizza, CODA, King Richard, Nightmare Alley and Drive My Car in the Best Picture category.

The 2022 Academy Awards will be held in Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on Sunday 27th March 2022.
The ceremony will be broadcast on TV around the world.

What time will the Oscars 2022 air?
The ceremony will kick off at 8pm Eastern Time – so 1am UK time in the early hours of Monday 28th March.
The show length can fluctuate a bit, but the awards usually run for about three hours, so get that flask of coffee prepped.
How to watch the Oscars 2022 in the UK
The event will be available to watch on the sub-channel Sky Cinema Oscars in the UK. This is usually followed by a highlights reel on Sky Max. Find out more about how to sign up for Sky TV here.

The Oscars 2022 hosts
Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes will take to the stage this year to present the ceremony.
Producer Will Packer said of the trio: “This year’s show is all about uniting movie lovers. It’s apropos that we’ve lined up three of the most dynamic, hilarious women with very different comedic styles.
“I know the fun Regina, Amy and Wanda will be having will translate to our audience as well. Many surprises in store! Expect the unexpected!”
In recent years The Academy has relied on various celebrities presenting each award to also serve as the hosts, rather than having a single figure in charge of the proceedings.
Who is presenting the awards at the Oscars 2022?
Alongside the three hosts, the Oscars 2022 will feature a range of different stars presenting the various awards.
Those on duty include Lily James, Shawn Mendes, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kevin Costner, John Travolta, Samuel L Jackson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lupita Nyong’o, Woody Harrelson and Tyler Perry.
Halle Bailey, Elliot Page, Simu Liu, Rami Malek and Lady Gaga will also grace the stage, as well as 2021 winners Anthony Hopkins, Daniel Kaluuya and Youn Yuh-jung.
Who is hosting the Oscars 2022 red carpet show?
Actors Vanessa Hudgens and Terrence J will host the red carpet show at this year’s Oscars alongside fashion designer Brandon Maxwell.
The official lead-in to the ceremony on Sunday will give fans a taste of what to expect, giving insight into the nominees, performers and presenters ahead of the annual award show.
The red carpet show will also feature a special appearance by DJ MOS.

The nominations were announced on Tuesday 8th February.
The Best Actor category played out largely as expected, with Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Garfield, Will Smith, Denzel Washington and Javier Bardem each receiving a nod.
However, there were a couple of surprises in the Best Actress category, with Kristen Stewart getting a deserved nod for Spencer. Stewart was an unlikely nomination after being snubbed by the BAFTAs and the Screen Actors Guild.
In addition, Lady Gaga missed out on an Oscar nomination, with Jessica Chastain, Olivia Colman, Penélope Cruz and Nicole Kidman completing the line-up.
As for Best Picture, there are 10 impressive titles going up for the award this year, with Belfast, CODA, Don’t Look Up, Drive My Car, Dune, King Richard. Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, The Power of the Dog and West Side Story all competing for glory.
The Academy Awards will take place on Sunday 27th March.
