Iggy Azalea reveals bizarre writing requests

Iggy Azalea insists music critics expect her to write songs about riding kangaroos.

The ‘Fancy’ hitmaker – who grew up in the small town of Mullumbimby in New South Wales, Australia – claims that in order to be ”authentic”, critics of her music expect her to write about her heritage.

She said: ”We get so caught up, especially in rap, with what’s authentic, and I wish people would think more about what the f**k that even means.

”One critic was like, ‘Why didn’t you talk more about Australian things?’

”I don’t understand why I’m supposed to write a song about living in the outback and riding a kangaroo to be authentic.”

The 24-year-old star, who moved to Miami, Florida in order to pursue a career in rap music, insists she was seen as un-cool when she was a child, and it says it wasn’t until she left Australia that she began to relate to other people.

She told Billboard: ”I was always that kid that was f**king weird.

”When I first started rapping, I thought I’d move to the city [Sydney]. But when I got there I was like, ‘These people are still not my people.

”They’re still too practical for me. I need some real mental people to be around. I need a lot of bats**t-crazy people who are completely excessive and ridiculous. I need to go to America.”
