X Factor winner Sam Bailey has revealed she has still not met the elusive Simon Cowell.
Sam, who is set to release her debut album next week, explained she’s so far only had the one conversation with the music mogul, over the phone.
The Compass singer said: “I haven’t met Simon yet, that’s going to be in the next few weeks so I’m very excited. I’m a bit nervous to be honest but it’s going to be good. It’s Simon Cowell. I’ve never met him before.”
But Sam wasn’t upset and claimed that the lack of contact showed confidence in her.
“It’s just that one conversation I’ve had with him. He’s a very busy man. He’s got lots of people to worry about hasn’t he? And I’m a bit older so he hasn’t got to worry about me too much,” she suggested.
And after all, it may be for the better that Sam’s not yet spoken to the man in the flesh, saying she became starstruck just speaking to him on the phone.
Sam, who was mentored by Sharon Osbourne on the show last year, told the Daily Mail newspaper: “It was weird when I spoke to him on the phone. He was nice to talk to and he was very refreshing, but I couldn’t help thinking it was Rory Bremner or John Culshaw when I was talking to him.
“It was just a surreal moment for me to have a conversation with Simon Cowell.”
