Nickelback is a Canadian rock band that formed in Hanna, Alberta in 1995. The band’s lineup consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Chad Kroeger, guitarist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger, and drummer Daniel Adair. Over the course of their career, they have become one of the most successful rock bands of the early 21st century, selling more than 50 million records worldwide.
The band later changed its name to Nickelback, which originated from the nickel in change that band member Mike Kroeger gave customers at his job at Starbucks; he would frequently say, “Here’s your nickel back.” The band performed covers of songs from Led Zeppelin and Metallica.
Nickelback’s early music was heavily influenced by post-grunge and alternative rock, but they later embraced a more mainstream hard rock sound. Their breakthrough came with the release of their third album, “Silver Side Up” in 2001, which was certified 6x Platinum in the US and Canada. This album featured the hit singles “How You Remind Me” and “Too Bad,” which helped establish the band as a major force in the rock world.
In the years that followed, Nickelback continued to release successful albums, including “The Long Road” (2003), “All the Right Reasons” (2005), “Dark Horse” (2008), and “Here and Now” (2011).
