Married At First Sight UK is coming, and these are the husbands and wives-to-be

Married at First Sight UK will be packed with rows, scandals and even cheating. Meet the brave new contestants on MarkMeets Entertainment.

The bold social experiment where single people, matched by experts, marry total strangers, who they meet for the very first time on their wedding day.

the cast have been revealed, and from Nikita who’s pals with Geordie Shore’s says-it-how-it-is Chloe Ferry to a former glamour model, it sounds like the show could be especially explosive. There are eight couples in total, and this marks the first time a gay couple has featured, making nine men and seven women. Here’s everything you need to know about them.

The weddings are not legally binding the couples are never matched to deliberately clash for good TV.

We’re not going to put our reputation on the line by putting people together who are not going to work. Our every intention is to set people up for success.

“It takes months behind the scenes before we even get near a camera. We look at their personality styles, values and preferences, relationship history, expectations, all of that.

“We also work with a consultant psychologist who does all the mental health care, making sure people have the resilience required to cope with the process.

Adam, 26, Doncaster

When Adam’s not doing his day job as an electrician, he’s competing in fitness competitions. To that end, he’s super competitive and loves a challenge, which kind of explains why he signed up to the show. “I’m forcing myself into the situation where I have to be with someone,” he said. “I’m only going to take positives from it. Hopefully, I’ll find the right one.”

What’s he looking for: Someone who is naturally pretty and has nice eyes, is ambitious, positive and spontaneous.

Ant, 28, Manchester

Ant works in business development, but apparently spends the rest of his time socialising, as he’s been described as a “social butterfly”. We’re not sure how this’ll go down, but he also supposedly “knows just how good looking he is”. That said, he has said he’s hoping the show will help him to be more open, and that if it doesn’t work out he wants to come away with new friends. “The best that could happen is that the experts find me a match and it works out perfectly and find our happily ever after,” he explained. “The worst case is it doesn’t work out and I make some new friends and learn a bit about myself.”

What he’s looking for: Someone who is bubbly, funny, ambitious and up for an adventure.

Daniel, 27, Northern Ireland

Daniel, a sales worker, prides himself on his positivity, which sounds all well and good, but doesn’t seem to have done much for him in the world of relationships so far. He says he’s hoping to get as much advice as he can from the experts: “Married At First Sight UK is a big experience and quite nerve-racking in many ways,” he said. “However, it is something that will allow me to shift my patterns in terms of relationships and it’s a blessing to have the professional and scientific advice to help me.”

What he’s looking for: Someone who shares his interests in hiking, meditation and cold water swims, and is preferably a vegetarian.

Robert, 26, Dorset

Business protection specialist Robert is the life and soul of the party. He’s known as ‘Big Bob’ to his mates, but he’s looking for someone to share the limelight with. “I want to have fun all the time,” he said. “So I want someone who wants to go out and do things. Someone who is on my wavelength with how I look at life.”

What he’s looking for: Someone with a big personality, and always up for a laugh.

Franky, 47, Dubai

Ex military man Franky is a strength and conditioning coach who has always been a leader in his professional life. He fought for his country for 15 years, and has since lived in Dubai as an expat. He said: “All my life has been about challenges. I don’t like to do the normal. If anything is normal then I find it boring. I’m not captured unless I’m entertained and challenged – and Married At First Sight UK is a bloody big challenge.”

What he’s looking for: Someone who will be happy to up sticks and move to Dubai, and who shares his morals and beliefs.

Matt, 39, West Yorkshire

Matt has been through a lot: he most recently overcame a messy breakup, and in 2004, his dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer and Matt decided to quit his corporate career in favour of a role in the cancer charity sector. He’s very outgoing, and spends his spare time at choir practice, and previously as part of a Take That tribute band (brownie points for anyone who can guess he was impersonating). Now, he’s keen to find The One that he can settle down and have kids with. “The reason I’ve come onto the show is because I’m really wanting to meet that special person that I can start building a life with and have a family. I’m really excited.”

What he’s looking for: Someone who is at the same stage as him in life, and someone to grow old with.

Jordon, 27, Cardiff

PT Jordan had a religious upbringing from his grandmother, and has taken on her gentle and positive attributes, but he says that’s not often how people perceive him, which holds him back in relationships. “My happily ever after would be to learn stuff about myself that I didn’t know before. I want to become stronger as a person and to walk away with a partner and some new friends.”

What he’s looking for: Someone he can raise a family with, and who he can bring home to meet his grandmother.

Luke, 36, Cardiff

Care home manager and fireman Luke appears to have it all: a job, a house, and all the attributes of a gentleman. But, such is life, his last relationship broke down and he’s been battling with self confidence ever since. He reckons he’s now at the point where he’s ready to move on, and appreciate his worth in a new couple. “I already have more in common with this person than I would do meeting them on dating apps or in the pub,” he said of his new wife-to-be. “Because they’ve done the same thing, they must be in a similar circumstance to me.”

Joshua, 26, west London

Josh, who works in insurance, is all about ambition, competitiveness and drive, which he says has helped him succeed in everything in life – including his sporting career as a teenager, during which time his father passed away. He’s looking for similar in a partner. “I think marriage has always been on my cards, but I could never see myself getting down on one knee so this is a fast track,” he said. “Sometimes I need to be kicked into the deep end so for me this is the start of a new chapter.

What he’s looking for: Someone with a good balance between work and home life, who works hard, is into fitness, and doesn’t take themselves too seriously.T

Wait, the Married At First Sight cast aren’t even legally married?

Megan, 26, Stoke

Megan is a wellness coach with a particular interest in the mental health of young people, after she faced her own battles due to her father passing away when she was eight. In managing to deal with her grief, she’s come out stronger, and is now looking for a man to enjoy life with. “My dating history is horrendous, I have terrible taste,” she admitted. “Of course, it is a good option to get someone to do it for me. It just felt like an opportunity I couldn’t miss. Each step of the way has felt more and more right.”

What she’s looking for: Someone who is kind, polite, creative, ambitious, confident, and above all, funny.

Amy, 34, Cornwall

Sports journalist and influencer Amy is a former glamour model, but she now works as a sports presenter, mainly discussing football and her fave team, Chelsea. She sees MAFS UK as a chance for her to let her guard down. “With Married At First Sight UK, I’m either going to find the love of my life or I’m going to learn a really big lesson from it, which might lead me to the love of my life.”

What she’s looking for: Someone who, ideally, supports Chelsea F.C., too.

Marilyse, 36, Yorkshire

Marilyse is another PT within the cast, who describes herself as strong, switched on and positive. She leads a very healthy lifestyle, and says fitness is everything to her. She’s also a mum to two sons, who are keen for her to find someone that will take care of her. “I would love to go through to the experiment to the very end and still be with the guy. That is what I want to happen and what I expect to happen. I will be a bit disappointed if it doesn’t happen, but we’ll have to wait and see.”

What she’s looking for: Someone is headstrong, and who loves her sons as much as her.

Nikita, 26, County Durham

Sassy saleswoman Nikita has confidence for days. She speaks her mind, is stubborn, but also wears her heart on her sleeve. She admits she’s already planned her wedding, as well as her children’s names, because she’s already been in love twice before. Could this be third time lucky? “Ideally, we all want our Prince Charming who we are going to be with until the day we die,” she said. “I just think that if I meet someone who blows me away and we’re on the same wavelength and have proper banter it will be great.”

What she’s looking for: Someone who appreciates, and can take her banter.

Morag, 31, Essex

Morag is a veterinary nurse, who was raised between Essex and Ibiza. She’s super loud and self-assured, which explains why she moved across the world to Australia in her 20s, no qualms about it. She returned in 2019 after her dad fell ill and passed away, and is now keen to find love. “I want the experts to help because I’ve got high expectations of myself and what I want from my partner,” she said. “I want them to help me open up and let someone in.”

What she’s looking for: Someone that wants a committed relationship, but isn’t quite ready to settle down. They should be adventurous, fun, spontaneous and up for a night out.

Alexis, 28, London

Alexis is a model, who is often misjudged for her bold and territorial opinions. She says she’s taken a break from men over the past two years to work on herself, but is now ready to fill that void. “I’ve applied to this to find the good guy, to find someone genuine and someone who wants commitment. I give my all and I’m very supportive. I’m looking for someone on my wavelength and I want someone who is going to take the reins a little bit,” she said.

What she’s looking for: Someone who is ambitious, well-educated, well-spoken and family orientated. They should also be understanding, affectionate, and in touch with their emotions. Ultimately, a best friend.

Tayah, 25, Welwyn Garden City

Estate agent Tayah is looking to start a family soon as she’s always wanted to be a “young mum” and wants a man she can look after, but who can look after a family of his own, too. “I’ve always wanted to get married and have kids,” she said. “I’ve always wanted to be a young mum. My end goal is to have that family and that family unit. So that would be an ideal situation to come from this.”

What she’s looking for: A confident man who takes care of themselves.
