Brits are being warned as forecasters predict the next few days could be hit by snow flurries and ‘thundersnow’

After a warm and wet Christmas, the weather is about to deliver a blast of snow and freezing low temperatures.

While it’s too late to call it a white Christmas, it certainly looks set to be a snowy start to the year looking at the January forecast.

Following what was the warmest New Year’s Day on record, temperatures are finally set to plummet across the country.

Urgent yellow weather warnings across swathes of the UK from Friday morning with those who are using the roads told to approach cautiously.

The Met Office has already said that it is ‘considerably colder’ this week and has tipped six hours of snowfall for some areas.

A band of rain will move eastwards across the UK during Thursday, bringing with it wintry showers and slushy snow.
During this six hour period into Friday morning, forecasters are concerned that travel will be impacted and the roads may be impacted.
