MarkMeets Writers and Contributors

MarkMeets brings together writers, reporters, reviewers, presenters, photographers and media professionals with a shared interest in entertainment and original storytelling. Our contributors include experienced freelance journalists, subject specialists, film enthusiasts and emerging writers developing their portfolios.

Established in 2002, MarkMeets publishes news, interviews, reviews and features covering showbiz, television, music, film, theatre, fashion and lifestyle, alongside business and technology. Our contributors bring different backgrounds, interests and perspectives to that coverage.

Meet our authors and editorial team to explore individual profiles and published work.

The People Behind Our Stories

A good entertainment feature can begin with a conversation, a performance, a new release or a question worth investigating. Our writers turn those starting points into stories that inform readers, introduce talent and capture what makes a subject interesting.

Across the team, that work includes researching articles, interviewing performers, reviewing films and releases, attending events, taking photographs and producing video. Contributors work with our editors to develop suitable ideas and prepare material for publication.

What Our Contributors Cover

  • Film including reviews, release coverage, filmmaker interviews, screenings and festivals.
  • Music including artist interviews, singles, albums, gigs and emerging talent.
  • Television and showbiz including entertainment stories, programme features and conversations with familiar faces.
  • Theatre including West End news, performances, reviews and cast interviews.
  • Fashion and lifestyle including cultural trends, original features and informed perspectives.
  • Business and technology including researched articles and contributions from people with relevant expertise.

Join Our Contributor Network

We welcome approaches from writers, bloggers, reviewers, presenters and other creatives with something relevant to contribute. You might be an established journalist, a media graduate, a specialist in your field or a confident interviewer with access to an interesting story.

You can propose an occasional contribution or discuss a regular commitment. For regular contributors, an initial arrangement might involve one to five original articles a month, depending on the subjects, availability and brief agreed with the editor.

We welcome ideas from across the UK, including London, Glasgow, Brighton, Birmingham and Liverpool, as well as contributors working internationally. Location matters less than a strong idea, reliable communication and the ability to deliver the agreed work.

Read our Write for Us page for detailed submission information and our editorial guidelines before pitching.

What We Look For

  • Original ideas with a clear angle and a reason for readers to care.
  • Accurate reporting supported by reliable sources, checked facts and properly attributed quotations.
  • Strong written English with clear structure, careful grammar and an engaging voice.
  • Good communication when arranging interviews, discussing edits or managing deadlines.
  • Professional conduct when representing MarkMeets or approaching sources.
  • Honesty about interests and access, including any client relationships or commercial involvement.
  • Respect for rights and permissions when supplying photographs, recordings or other material.

Our team values accurate, fair reporting and has a longstanding commitment to supporting new talent. We want contributors who can bring enthusiasm to a subject while asking useful questions and checking what they publish.

Interviews, Reviews and Event Reporting

Our coverage has taken contributors to gigs, press launches, film screenings, festivals, press junkets and red carpet events. Interviews may take place by telephone, email, video call or in person.

Event assignments depend on the editorial brief, accreditation, location and availability. Joining the contributor network does not automatically provide tickets, backstage access or celebrity interviews. Any assignment representing MarkMeets must be authorised by the editorial team in advance.

If you are interested in presenting or interviewing, include a showreel, recording or relevant example with your enquiry. Explain the subjects you know best and the formats you are comfortable working in.

Develop Your Published Portfolio

Contributing can help you build a body of published work, gain experience responding to editorial briefs and develop your interviewing, research and writing skills. Depending on the project, there may also be opportunities to work alongside other contributors and develop industry contacts.

The scope, credit, expenses and any payment must be agreed before work begins. If you are seeking a paid commission, state this in your approach. An unsolicited submission or initial conversation does not itself create a paid assignment.

Photography and Supporting Content

Alongside original reporting and photography, our coverage may use licensed images, approved press materials and content supplied through agreed partner arrangements.

Our image-source history includes Lensi, Splash, Getty Images, Pacific Coast News and Zimbio. Content sources have included UKFilmPremieres, CelebEvents, The Handbook, ShowbizGossip, Interview Hub, BANG Showbiz, partner and affiliate sources, and press releases. Individual usage remains subject to the relevant permissions and credits.

Contributors must identify the source of supporting material and provide any licence conditions or required attribution. Material found online must not be treated as free to republish simply because it is publicly accessible.

Send Us Your Ideas

For a pitch, include a short summary, your proposed angle, an approximate word count and the date you could deliver it. Add relevant writing samples and explain any specialist knowledge or interview access you can bring.

Word documents are welcome for requested drafts. Please agree the idea with the editor before investing time in a substantial feature.
