Tickets for Glastonbury 2023 went on sale recently so music fans across the country will be furiously hitting refresh on their laptops.

Coach and ticket packages sold out in half-an-hour, after all.

While the festival is always popular, rumours about who could join the 2023 lineup have got fans even more desperate to be a part of the action.

Amongst the many rumours, Rihanna is hotly tipped to be headliner though Arctic monkeys, Eminem, Rihanna, Harry Styles were all nentioned by music reporter Mark Boardman on the bbc recently.

If it proves true, the Fenty founder will headline for the first time. But who has played Glastonbury more than once, and who’s performed the most?

Performing at the festival an impressive eight times, Northern-Irish singer Van Morrison has performed at Glastonbury more than anyone else.

Famous for hits like Brown Eyed Girl, Van Morrison’s first appearance at the iconic festival was in 1982.

He has since appeared in 1987, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1997 and 2005.

The second most appearances – having appeared solo and with the group Elvis Costello & The Attractions – is Elvis Costello.

Performing six times over the years, he has been on the lineup for 1984, 1987, 1989, 1994, 2005 and 2013.

Following close behind are Primal Scream.

The Scottish rockers have appeared at the festival five times: 1992, 1998, 2005, 2013 and 2022.

Coldplay aren’t too far behind, either, notching up four performances. They’ve played in 2002, 2005, 2011 and 2016.

Lily Allen represents the ladies the most, having also notched up four performances over the years, in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2014.

You can even hire tipis to share with your family and friends – each can accommodate up to six adults. This costs £1500 to hire, to pay in full at the time of booking.

There will also be some Sunday tickets exclusively available for Somerset residents.

How do I get to Glastonbury 2023

As festival organizers point out, coaches are the best way to get to the Glastonbury festival. The event’s official partner, National Express, will run services from over 70 locations directly to the festival site. You can check and book your route here(opens in new tab).

If you are thinking of coming by train, the closest station is Castle Cary. Here, there will be a free shuttle bus running throughout the event days.

Those coming by car or campervan should keep in mind that, despite the name, the festival is not actually located in the town of Glastonbury. As with previous events, Glastonbury 2023 will be held at Worthy Farm which is in Pilton, in Somerset.
